The Silent Cartographer: Evolved is a ground-up reimagining of the classic Halo level. Along with an almost entirely custom content base, including high-fidelity models, textures, animations, visual effects, and sound design, TSC:E features all-new environments, a finely-tuned gameplay sandbox, and a wide array of well-hidden secrets.

The Silent Cartographer: Evolved (TSC:E) is a ground-up reimagining of the classic Halo level. Along with an almost entirely custom content base, including high-fidelity models, textures, animations, visual effects, and sound design, TSC:E features all-new environments, a finely-tuned gameplay sandbox, and a wide array of well-hidden secrets.
TSC:E requires Halo Custom Edition, patched to version 1.0.10, and the Open Sauce game extension. TSC:E is *not* compatible with the Master Chief Collection!

Install guide:
You need a valid CD key for Halo PC. This package provides installers for all other prerequisites. To reiterate, we don't own or control anything but the TSC:E map -- the other items are provided only as a convenience!
If any of these installers fail, try right-clicking on them, and selecting "Run as administrator".
1. Run "1 - halocesetup_en_1.00.exe". This will install Halo Custom Edition. Take note of the folder you're installing to, as that's where you'll need to drop the map file.
2. Run the patch installer in "2 - haloce-patch-1.0.10.zip". This will install patch 1.0.10.
3. Run "3 - OpenSauce_Halo1_CE_2015_03_02.msi". This will install Open Sauce. You only need the "Halo CE" feature, if the installer asks.
4. Move "b30_evolved.yelo" into the "maps" folder of wherever you installed Halo Custom Edition. This installs TSC:E itself. By default, the folder will probably be "C:/Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Games/Halo Custom Edition/maps".
5. Move "ui.map" from "Universal_UI_Version_1.1.zip" into the same "maps" folder, replacing the existing file. This installs the Universal UI main menu replacement, allowing you to easily load TSC:E. You probably want to back up the old one first.
6. Run Halo Custom Edition, navigate to Campaign -> CMT Projects -> TSC: Evolved, and select your difficulty!

"What if I don't want to use the custom main menu replacement?"
In that case, you can use the in-game console to load TSC:E. Back up to install step 4, and then:
5. Find the Halo Custom Edition shortcut on your desktop, right click, and select "Properties".
6. Select the "Shortcut" tab.
7. At the end of the "Target:" field, after the end quote, add "-console" (without quotes).
8. Run Halo Custom Edition from the shortcut.
9. Open the in-game console using the ` backtick key (top left of your keyboard).
10. Set your difficulty to Normal, Heroic, Legendary, or ???? by typing one the following commands, and hitting Enter:
game_difficulty_set normal
game_difficulty_set hard
game_difficulty_set impossible
game_difficulty_set easy
11. Open the console again (backtick key), and load TSC:E by typing the following command, and hitting Enter:
map_name b30_evolved

Regarding non-English languages:
We have built the 1.4.1 release's map files with the intent of supporting non-English language versions of Halo CE (meaning you should not experience crashes, corrupt data, or other game-breaking issues). We have verified that they are playable in both Spanish and Chinese versions of the game; however, we do not have the capacity to to localize our English content base or test in every released language. Please reach out if you encounter game-breaking issues related to localization support!

Extras:
Custom Edition has support for anisotropic texture filtering. You can turn it back on by removing the // from occurrences of UseAnisotropicFiltering in your Halo Custom Edition folder's config.txt.
If you'd like to enable EAX audio effects, Halo Custom Edition is compatible with the DSOAL project (see: Github.com).
Custom Edition is also compatible with the injectSMAA anti-aliasing project (see: Mrhaandi.blogspot.com).
