Lay D Denton version 1.1 is the first major update for LDDP. It features many fixes and underlying code changes to allow a Male JC/ Female JC side-by-side implementation.
Lay D Denton version 1.1
Install Instructions: [HERE]
1.1 features:
- Roughly 30 JC retakes (mostly Paris). Lines we identified after several playthroughs as “not quite right” or “we can do better”. This includes important ones like “sticks and stones”, “I was never properly trained in it’s operation”, “How’d my face get all marked up with bioelectrics?”
- Roughly 15 or so missed pronoun edits in both text and audio. (We owe this one to you guys!)
- The official LDDP HUD color scheme. This was something we had but couldn’t add in without changing the DeusEx.u file. (We just used the built in Purple one originally)
- FemJC Sodacan and cig noises. burp
- Medbots will have the proper paperdoll depending on JC’s gender.
- Male/Female Character creation screen. Changing JC’s appearance will also flip between genders.
- Male JC. This may sound silly because it’s ultimately the vanilla experience. HOWEVER! All the new LDDP NPCs have dialogue for male JC now.
- All cut content has its pronouns fixed. We kept cut content out of our mod, but now other mods that restore the content can do so freely.
- Original Morpheus flag. If you prefer the original Morpheus over the recast, you can now re-enable him.
- Male content for Female JC. While we stand by our decision as not making this the default setting, we know this is a huge deal for some people, so this is being offered as an option. This reverts the altered dialogue to the original flirtatious dialogue for Mercedes, Camille, Mamasan, and Canal Whore (we didn’t name her). Please note there are some caveats to this: There’s a chance for minor continuity issues with this option enabled.
- Three additional LDDP NPCs. One is located in the Underworld Bar on mission 4 (NSF distress signal). The other two are at the Vandenburg gas station. We have a total of 24 new NPCs now!
- Several AI Barks (out of conversation) lines for select added LDDP NPCs. Try setting the cat-caller on fire!
Is it compatible with GMDX yet?
Implementing LDDP into GMDX is something the GMDX developers would have to adopt for themselves. We provide technical documentation and are willing to help modders in our discord, but so far the GMDX camp has expressed disinterest in doing so, from what I understand.
Technical jargon as to why: The new methodology in 1.1 that allows for richer features and dynamic male/female selection per playthrough also makes it override core files, so it can't be dropped on top of mods that modify core files as well. They would have to bake the changes we suggest (and we've made them relatively easy to do, for what it's worth, including premade code for not needing LDDP to be installed for their mod to run) into their core files and recompile accordingly.
Unfortunately GMDX 9.0 is done, and the author has no plans on working on it any more iirc. GMDX RSD is on hiatus, and so is the v10 community update.
So they cannot work together. But, does what you say also mean that it is not compatible in the same file path? GMDX requires launching with a shortcut added by the mod. Let's say that if I wanted to have both but could only play them separately, could I install Lady Denton after installing GMDX, and have the LDDP experience by launching the vanilla exe, while also being able to close that session and launch GMDX separately through their special shortcut?
(Don't worry, I did NOT install both before asking about this, that would be crazy.)
I'm making a GMDX Fork (I'm actually working on the RSD fork, it's no longer on hiatus as of a week ago), and would definitely be interested in adding Lay-D-Denton support. Preferably as an optional extra, without requiring the LDD mod for mine to function, but also perfectly usable without it.
tl;dr: it works. ^^ This changelog is beautiful.
I noticed that now I can choose between Male/Female Denton at Character Creation. Woo Hoo.
The fact that you remade some of voice lines is a credit to your dedication, I love you!
Also I voted Lay D Denton Project as "Mod of the Year 2021" because I feel you deserve the accolade.
Some notes:
I did a fresh install, and there is no need to tinker with ".ini" files anymore (many thanks for this).
The only thing I needed to do - I'm a kentie launcher user- was to remove "DeusEx.ini" and "user.ini" from My Documents/Deus Ex/System. Otherwise v1.1 didn't work for some reason.
I'm guessing Revision compatibility is still up in the air? I know you guys must get asked this all the time and I'm guessing it's getting annoying.. but please take it as love and desire for this, such an incredible and utterly unique, mod! :)
~edit~
IT'S DONE! Completely without fanfare or announcement, but one of the developers of Revision posted in a thread on Revision forum that we should enable the Public Beta. Doing so shows Lay D Denton mod incorporated into the base game! Fantastic!
What mods should I pair this with?
I'll raise a ham sandwich to this mod. Really got to check it out asap
can there be compatibility with deus ex transcended?
Nice!
Absolutely loving the mod except the jump sound, it's horrible it sounds like my character is puking or something, it's really a huge problem for me it just sounds horrible I'm sorry!
Use Peripeteia's "hop", it's the best jump sound ever made for a female character :D Youtu.be
Great mod! Didn't make it through the entire game yet but the new content is really well made. My favourite new characters gotta be Liam and the intercom guy.
Does this mod disable console commands? The default T keybind does nothing, and setting it manually to 'Talk' in the User.ini file has no effect either. This is the only mod I have, and it's the GOG version if that's any indication.
Edit: Nevermind, you can set it in-game as "Send Message To All" in the keyboard configuration.
I could've sworn that WiB's had ponytails... Just checked a yt video and I guess I'm wrong. I can understand, but I still feel like fem JC would look better with a ponytail, since you already went thru all the effort to make her as feminine as possible. Idk, just sayin.
Signed up just to give a huge thanks to the creators for this fantastic project!
Deus Ex: Always worth a reinstall :)
What mods actually restore cut content that'd be compatible with this?
