Pikemen using halleberd animation is weird, I would prefer to keep pike animation and add secondary weapon, personnaly.

Halberd animation seems kinda weird and clunky and looks like their pikes get shorter. But i can see the problem with their zone of control.

Probably a secondary weapon would be the best in this situation in my opinion. Would preserve the pikes useful for pinning down units and defensive maneuvers but would open up them a little bit more for blows.

EDIT: Other solution could be keeping the pike animation but decreasing their attack and defense to make them more vulnerable, especially to missiles and slow killers, reducing their role to pinning and area control and making them more reliant on other units to support them in battle with missiles, flanking, etc.

I'd say your third point is getting quite close to the solution we just found.

We decreased the attack rate of the pike units drastically. That allows the sword or close combat units to get close enough to aim a blow. What do you guys say?

Description

We are currently overhauling the unit stats, as you could see in our last video. Now we are also trying to renew the pike fighting. As you can see in the first part of the video we used the halberd animation, in the second part we used the normal pike animation.
The problem in all previous versions was that the pike units were somewhat overpowered because no one was able to get close enough to aim a blow.So we have three possible solutions:1. We leave things as they are 2. We change the animation to halberds 3. We leave the pike animation and add secondary weapons again.What do you think should we do or do you have a complete different angle?Just leave us a comment below!
