The Haunted is a fast paced thirdperson horror-action game with focus on a intense multiplayer experience that is all about making a stand and liberating cursed places from the minions of evil. The game features several multiplayer modes such as coop or demons .vs. humans, where enemies are spawned and controlled by players. The outstanding visuals lay a perfect tone for the gameplay.

I've enjoyed haunted so far and now I want to join a server but I can't join any of the empty ones. Every time I try to join one it sends me straight to the main menu. I have 2.01 of haunted and UT3patch5 (if that makes any difference) I can play normal UT3 servers just fine but not haunted servers.

I am also having this problem. I have UT3 patched to 2.01 and Haunted as well with 2.00 as the origional install and 2.01 patched in the correct folder. I can play the game in single player fine but when joining a multiplayer server the game boots me to the main menu. Im running vista 64. I can host a server by the way, just not join.

Hmm intresting. This could be a vista issue. Can you post the log file from MyGames..../UtGame/logs here after the game boots you back to the main menu ? Since i cannot seem to reproduce this bug, so its difficult to fix.

One more thing that happens is the video splits into 4 and everything diagonally stacks on top of itself right before I get booted to the main menu which is strange.

UTEntryPlayerController_1::NotifyConnectionError Message:'Package
'HauntedGame' version mismatch' Title:'Connection failed'

This causes the error and could have the following reasons:

-Old haunted version still installed somewhere
-Running haunted 2.0 and not 2.01
-An old hauntedgame.u package that was downloaded while connecting may be saved in the download cache.
Just delete the files in MyGames...\UTGame\Cache . but make a backup first.

Please let me know when you get it working or if there are other problems

After deleteing the cache and trying to join a server the game downloads some files. It downloads something called "Haunted Game", sounds and even the map stronghold. Still it boots me to the menu. Is there a newer version of Stronghold out that would require a download? Also is there a way to check if I have successfully installed the patch if that is the issue? In the main menu it says version 2.1 but I think that's UT3 since the patch is 2.01. Maybe the servers are still running 2.00...

Try joining the nervous energy server, that is up to date. The game shouldn't download anything. If the issue remains, just reinstall the haunted.

I have the same problem and i have tried everything HEGI has said but it still won't work for me. :/

How do i know if i'm playing 2.0 or 2.01? It says 2.1 in the main menu.

EDIT: I also run Win Vista 64-bit.

It's the same error, weird. Are you really sure that you have haunted v2.01 installed ?
Go to MyGames\.....\HauntedGame\published\Script . The Hauntedgame.u file should be dated May 8th 2009 .

I just want to find the cause, maybe its not the download cache.

Thx HEGI i solved it, it was a problem with me unable to patch properly. =P

For some reason when i copied the whole patch folder to the mod folder it didn't overwrite all the files so i had to go into the \published and copy those seperatly to get it to overwrite the old files.
And now it works! =D

I'm having the exact same problem and I'm on xp, checked script it says last modified in April of 09. Gunna redownload patch now and fix. :) Letcha know if it worked.

Guys, the patch for Haunted 2.5 is out, just only on fileplanet right now, go and get it and see if it works.
