First of all I want to say I love this mod, been playing it since first public realese and always thought it was one of the best, most polished, mods out there and definitely the best UT3 mod.

Here's my honest opinion on the V2 and all the developer choices you made. You guys kinda destroyed the previously amazing atmosphere and tension in favor of non stop action that gets extremely boring extremely fast. You would figure it would be more fun but its just non stop so you get burned out pretty fast.
The new weapons system is terrible and the respawning is probably the worst thing you could have done with this mod.

Again, this is just my honest opinion, I'm not trying to be an ass but I'm not going to just sit back and except the fact that the newer version is nothing like the old one, and, again in my honest opinion, worse.

Hey Broad =p I can not say anything personally as I've yet to get my copy of UT installed thanks to the download time, but perhaps a separate gamemode would be in order, something that can allow a person more ebb and flow in combat or something to better absorb a player into what is clearly an amazing and well designed environment?

A classic mode that is just like the old version (one survivor, ammo spread through map) that only added the new weapons and spawning system and appropriate balance changes would be epic.

That's your opinion and that's fine, nothing wrong with it. Personally, I love the newer version much more. I didn't like the old weapon system, because the shotgun and the vendetta were the only worthwhile weapons. I think it would be neat to see a new version with ammo, but not weapons, lying around the map. I find myself on the edge of my seat often, and the game really wears me out. When I stop to take a break, I feel a little exhausted, it's not often that a game can consistently do that to me, or any player. I love everything about the new version, except for a few things that need to be tweaked, but at least this version has a working multiplayer :).

Thanks for being honest, however, you need to understand that we arent a 100man team with a 10million$ budget.
When we decided where to go with v2 we looked what most ppl wanted - and that was Online-Coop.
This meant we had to adapt the more SinglePlayer oriented design of v1 to something Multiplayer compatible.
We are fans of the slower paced atmospheric SP stuff, but with a small team the required levels are simply not doable.
If you want to have it more like in v1 simply edit the UTHauntedStages.ini and change SP_MinHealthStoneVal=0 that way no healthstone will spawn!

For the weapon system, this was the only logical choice - i guess what you are suggesting, is to have it the same way as before, where all the weapons are placed within the levels - but think about it, who would take a Cerberus Pistol if he could pick up a M60 MachineGun instead? This means that 90% of the weapons wont be used as people would only go for the good guns. Also, how would you balance this? Currently good players get faster upgrades, with your system skill doesnt matter. If you know solutions to those problems feel free to express them, but the system wont change until you offer something better!

As for the respawning - the reason behind this, is to keep the players moving - otherwise it would end up in a camp-fest. If we change it to something like Gears of War then the Humans would be unbeatable.
Anyway, if you critizise something the next time, try to offer solutions, otherwise dont be surprised if people will simply ignore you :)

Personnaly, the fast paced aspect of the mod is one of the principal reasons why my friends and I play it. The only problem for the moment -for me and about 10 friends- is the lack of maps. But I trust the dev team for the next version.
