The Haunted is a fast paced thirdperson horror-action game with focus on a intense multiplayer experience that is all about making a stand and liberating cursed places from the minions of evil. The game features several multiplayer modes such as coop or demons .vs. humans, where enemies are spawned and controlled by players. The outstanding visuals lay a perfect tone for the gameplay.

Yesterday, January 24th 2009, we tried out your v1.02 mod. I just thought this would be a good test of your stuff and you would like to hear what people had to say. We had 9 people at this LAN with an age range of 25 - 35 and most were experienced FPS players. We get together about once a month for some gaming, which usually includes COD4, BF2, COD WAW, Flatout2, and Grid to name a few.

The following is my interpretation of everyone's feed back

Positives:

  • Fun with one map and one game type--we still played it for 3 hrs straight
  • Looked great and ran smooth
  • It never crashed and we played over 120 rounds
  • People could get up and get some food or use the restroom if they where not the haunted without feeling like they were hurting the hunter team

Suggestions:

  • Soon after the start people were fighting over the shared blood points, so maybe everyone gets their own and it just accumulates slower or faster based on how many people are playing. We could make it work by talking to each other and coming up with a strategy and agreeing upon saving our points before we spent them, but if we were playing online that would not be so easy.
  • We need more than 8 players. Like I stated before we had 9 people there so we could not include everyone and 9 is rather small for us. 16 would be a better number that we'd not go over so easily.
  • The shotgun needs to reload better if it is being reloaded before it is empty; when it is empty it reloads fine.
  • After a while people started getting really good at being the haunted, but we had now way of changing the difficulty, like increasing the rate at which blood points were accumulated.
  • When people came in as zombies they found them hard to control, but I don't know what to say about that. They controlled just fine it was just that they are slow. If they were made too fast then the game would be over quick
  • The weapons do need balanced

All and all it was great, but if no changes are made by the next time we play I don't think we will be playing it at our next LAN. It is not that it was bad, just that issues we did find would make another 3 hrs a bit painful and tedious.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions, that was really helpful :)

What exactly did you mean with

The shotgun needs to reload better if it is being reloaded before it is empty; when it is empty it reloads fine.

Since the reloading mechanic is the same.

I'm glad that was helpful.

I must be a little slow, I checked it out and I don't see a problem with it. All I can think is that I must have been hitting the fire button while I was pumping the shotgun, waiting for the next shell to load, and it started reloading when I was trying to get another shot off as fast as I could because I was being bombarded. I think it is fine I just need to calm my fingers a bit.
