The Gauss Shield Hybrid Rifle
This prototype weaponry generates a force field inside its barrel, letting it shoot balls of plasma which is accelerated by its magnets attached to it. The Rifle is battery powered by some very expensive new batteries that are positioned in front of the trigger; a simple button lets the user eject the three battery cartridges for three new ones to be inserted. Due to the slow speed of its projectiles it was never used a lot in the field, but it's a favourite amongst officers due to its cost and the high status it symbolises.

It's concept, let it shoot lazors, or bullets proppeled by a new energy device. or whatever.
It would probably have to be bullets, the only way to generate a laser would be to have a device the size of an aeroplane doing it. By 2019, light, portable laser/plasma devices=not a possibility >.<
