The Conquerors mod for Battlefield 2

In late 2008 following a large meteor shower more than 15 large objects were discovered in a high polar orbit above Antarctica by astronomers in southern hemisphere. The world quickly became aware of these mysterious satellites which upon closer telescopic inspection appeared to be a fleet of spacecraft.

Rumors and accusations concerning their origin quickly spiraled into preparations for war as no nation, alliance or corporation would admit ownership or responsibility for what had been discovered. Fingers were pointed and paranoia reigned supreme as the appearance of these spacecraft was seen as a military buildup. Conspiracy theorists throughout the world nourished the growing distrust between nations; various governments were accused of starting a space-based military buildup which meant someone was preparing to go to war. With the world in political disarray smaller nations and terrorist groups attempted power grabs while the larger nations attempted to police this sudden bout of anarchy. During the chaotic disarray many powerful world leaders were assassinated or overthrown, nations splintered as their armies attempted to restore order but only proved to fuel the fires of chaos even more. What began as mere political distrust had transformed into a massive military build up as the powers of the world cocked the guns and pointed their missiles at each other. On the 3rd of January 2009, less than two months after the discovery of the orbiting space fleet, the forces of Earth unleashed their might upon each other in a fight for survival. For the third time in less than 100 years the entire world had gone to war.

For two weeks the world fought furiously as they systematically decimated their lands, homes and people while the unclaimed space fleet silently orbited the earth. On the evening of the 18th a ceasefire was finally reached as the world once again gazed into the heavens to watch the fleet of spacecraft, one by one, departed their orbit and approach the Earth.

A single radio communication from one of the descending spacecraft was broadcast to radios all over the world as.

"The subjugation of the Conquerors has come to an end; we have returned to reclaim our world from those who exiled us."

The spacecraft descended upon the once raging battlefields; stopping several thousand feet about the ground as smaller ships poured from the giant craft and began heading to the world below. Mankind watched in horror as they realized that the weeks of chaos and anarchy had been orchestrated to lure the people of the world into destroying in a bid to weaken the defenses of Earth.
