Ignore the white edge, I rendered the sights without background and I placed a screenshot in photoshop behind it (must be a png transparency issue ...) If I would render it with a the background right away there would be no white edge (just checked :D ).
Yeah, but in this case this engine dont uses depth of field, it would be pointless to have 3D rear sights because the aiming hole is only about 1-2mm wide in reality. Using a blurred texture on the other hand simulates real aiming (I had a real RPG-75 to study on).

I do believe it is possible to have totally 3D sights on any weapon.
