What's with the rainbow on the sig?
That is heat discoloration from prolonged use, over oiling and lack of maintenance.
Look at an old Anthrasite stove for example. I would've posted a pic for ya if I could :)
I don't know about that but oil on metal can have an especially noticeable discoloration. With a coal-burning stove you can at least add stove-black to it.
Ours is very beautiful, a RAINBOW of colours! :)

Toned down the discoloration a bit, added some oil splatter & dripping and a little mud.
