Its very military and spartan in design. Aggressive

and it is interesting to think how real-life choices by developers affected it. I believe Strogg building styles originated in the Quake engine that favoured large cubes and sharp angles, we see that style is maintained for continuity and to acknowledge all the past level design for Strogg bases. I suspect overhanging fortifications and tallness of the buildings also helped prevent seeing the edges of the maps in Quake 2. It's fun to carry across these design choices into a strategy game where they aren't needed anymore, just to keep up the Strogg style

Description

How Strogg architecture in Quake 4 was translated into the "Sudden Quake" mod. Strogg architectural features include:

* overhanging sections of wall reminiscent of battlements
* protruding sections of wall, usually between windows, that may start part of the way up the side of the building
* the placement of Strogg windows is usually elongated and vertical, crossing multiple floors. This is often adjacent to the elevators that are present in Strogg buildings. The glass is almost invariably reinforced and bullet-proof against all but the most powerful weapons
* materials used in the construction of Strogg buildings are extremely resilient. Reinforced concrete is augmented with thick sections of an extremely resistant alloy, often bolted into the concrete. In general, such material remains unaffected by conventional weaponry and can only be penetrated by specialised means, such as orbital bombardment and drop pods
*Strogg building interiors are utilitarian in the extreme. No attention is given to the safety or comfort of the occupant. Areas are poorly lit, as Strogg vision is artificially augmented. Walkways cross unsafe areas. No leisure areas are present, since the Strogg do not rest, but significant storage space for armories is available. Dangerous gases and chemicals are often vented liberally, electrical cables and high-tech machinery are exposed and continuously repaired by automated systems
*Despite the Strogg being a machine-dominated civilisation, they adorn their buildings with decaying banners linking to a forgotten era, and their buildings continue to convey a definite meaning, mainly oppressive and domineering in the manner of medieval castles and the domains of warlords on Earth.

Such architectural features may give insight into the origins of the Strogg cyborg soldier race, which continues to be a mystery.
