G'day all and sundry!
Happy Anniversary! The 50th anniversary of Star Trek is upon us and to participate in the celebrations we are moving to a public beta!
The mod is back on its feet and the team and I believe that there is more than enough to show off to the world in there. We have most of the content from the old Homeworld 2 Classic mod in the new one already with the addition of a Cardassian faction thanks to Dark_Sentinel! Special mention goes out to Brandenator and The Stress Puppy for their contributions to the ENT era Romulans (some still untextured) and the TOS Federation (the sexiest Connie I've seen in any mod to date!).
While the mod is still unfinished we will be collecting feedback on bugs, quirks and more and implementing continued polish and remastering of the old ships as quickly as we can. Going forward, we plan to update the mod at the beginning of every month with what we've accomplished in the preceding month (no matter how much or little happened that month)
Brandonator has prepared a video for the occasion, if you missed the teaser last week be sure not to miss this one!
The mod can be downloaded from the Steam Workshop, just follow this link and subscribe!
GOG VERSION OF HOMEWORLD REMASTERED
To reiterate none of the mod team have the GOG version of Homeworld Remastered and we are developing the mod to be run on the Steam version.
Later, once we are happy with where the mod is at we may reuse the old Homeworld 2 launcher and do a release for GOG. But there is currently no plans to make this as it's too far off in the future.
holy mother of god this year is a good year for trek :D this and stellaris ftw
Congrats on a release. Slowly but steadily are the first Remastered mods coming out.
Good mod I tested it yesterday I do like it. So far only the newer Eras seem playable right? Tried the Archer one and it lagged like crazy once fighting started either way. For a Beta/demo release some impressive work indeed keep going on it most models still lack their mapping/light effects so there's still plenty of work to do. Good luck.
The only thing I could complain at the very moment against ai is the fact that the random generated maps are to large which is good but it also makes finding the enemy fleets almost impossible. Not even my probes found em most of the time. I suggest improving the speed & sensor sight on probes. I also never was attacked not once by the ai factions (expert setting.) I had to go out looking for them.
Thank you! I'm glad we're not the only ones who think it's fun enough to share, even if it's not finished :B
There's a separate setting for aggression now, try dialling that up :)
GoG version is a must for me, sorry. Workshop is good and all but Steam is just a terrible platform, not to mention the DRM. So please bring it over to GoG once the Beta is over too!
Because the GoG version will closely follow the old model of releases with an installer and the rest with no easy way for us to push updates it will be quite a while before we hit a point where we would do a GoG release.
That said, we have no reason to say no. Just "not yet" :)
Bad *** trailer an a bad *** mod thumps up +++++
Love this mod! Sadly, I have tried this mod multiplayer and I am just getting the out of sync issue, don't suppose you have any ideas on this? Still, absolutely love the mod - great job!
We are fixing our randomly generated maps now, they're using an old method that is no longer multiplayer safe. The default maps are in there (but have some issues with the asteroids being too close together).
You'll get the fix for this soon!
Typhon class is stated as a carrier but I can't build any craft from it? For some reason formations are not working for me. Would be nice to put escorts in sphere formation.
Typhon is unfinished, keep an eye on that space ;-)
I really really really like this mod, but I'm also a huge fan of stories. Homeworld was one of those games that had great mods and also an incredible single player campaign.
Are you working on one of those? And if not... may I volunteer to help out there? I've worked on many mods in the past, but few with this level of quality that are also missing major options?
Couple brief suggestions.... A campaign from the perspective of a Klingon captain during the tumultuous years of conflict betweeen the Federation and Klingons during the Enterprise years. Not full out war, but it's indicated that many attacks were happened between both sides for a variety of reasons. Secondly, a mixed 'race' campaign during the TNG/DS9 years with the Dominion war. Could do a TOS/ENT scenario with the Romulans as well.
We already have an idea for a campaign, and will want the multiplayer down and finished before we dive into that most likely
Cool, thanks for letting me know then. Good luck.
That's exciting, I am hungry for more "prime universe" Star Trek stories and this mod looks like a great setting. You guys have outdone yourselves!
I enjoyed the last part of the trailer, as it is more strategic. :)
To bad i cant play it i've seen a lot of videos about it it looks great
