Stalker SOC Update English Translation
Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl update is a mod where the graphics, sounds are overhauled to today's standards but the story is left alone. (basically if stalker anomaly and the original SOC had a kid)

Installation:
#Video has been taken down, it supposedly violated Harmful or dangerous content community guideline?? Words can't exactly express my confusion but am guessing recording how to install a mod from its original source and translating it is a crime against humanity ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . Not that big a deal as this was just a passion project to publicize this beautiful SOC mod to the western audience, it was alr while it lasted. Good bye for now ಥ_ಥ
Note: While am still writing this out, thought I would give a quick little tutorial for those who might wanna check this mod out.
1) Download the game through the google drive link
2) Extract the game to a folder etc.
3) Start the game by going inside the bin_64x folder and click on xrEngine.exe. Start new game then exit once fully loaded.
4) Download my mod
5) Extract everything to the game data folder of the game. IMPORTANT: It WILL say to overwrite click yes to all, if not thats a sign that you may have not extracted the mod files in the correct space.

Update: Looking into the issue some people were having with the mod it was discovered that even though a new version of the mod was quickly uploaded after the initial release, the files remained the same.
PS. Hopefully this fix works for all and sorry if you somehow managed to get the game to correctly run with the mod as it was also contained old translations that were severely incorrect.

Please note that this mod has not been thoroughly play tested. If issues do pop up please do let me know but the known issues at the moment are unfix-able for me (been trying for 3 days and counting)
-Anyone can use this mod to build upon, publish etc no need to credit
just improve it :)
known issues are:
-Names not working or at best only first names showing up as intended
-One quest at the start unrelated to the main story line
-Wolf's first dialogue interaction before talking to Sidrovich is still Russian for some reason??
(swear looked up and down the exact specific dialogue he talks in and translated it, if you are able to fix it, please, do it i wanna know HOW. Thankfully this is a non issue as it gets fixed after talking to sidro)
-Sidenote am new, so aside from the known issues the translation could bug out in certain parts of the game (still hope you enjoy)

Hey, firstly thanks alot for the translation. Im new to stalker and didnt like the graphics and gunplay from the original one and found the "update" version which is similar to anomaly but still has the story eöements of SoC.
I applied the translation to the 1.03 update version but the character voices and cutscenes are still in russian.
Is that normal? Atleast i would like to use english cutscenes to understand the story as the npc text is in english thanks to you.

TLDR: Yes its normal for this mod to have Russian voice lines and its definitely doable to add English voice lines from the base game (give this mod a try: Moddb.com) but I will officially add it onto the mod later on.
Appreciate the support, yes the cut scenes are in Russian (normal) but I do believe in the base game there are English voice lines. Thinking about, it that would be a good addition to add when I overhaul the subtitles but unfortunately as of now I am just mainly waiting for the full release of the mod to do much of anything (I believe its still in V1.03 waiting for V2.0 to release).
Hey, the translation is very good and I've enjoyed the mod a lot. I have an issue I've accidentally pressed some buttons and now an "adjusting item rotation" is showing and i can't move my mouse. Does someone what keys turn it off?
Hey thanks for trying out the mod and glad you're having fun. Did you ever manage to fix this issue?
I did after an hour or so. I have this weird gaming mouse with buttons on the side, I think G16 or G17 + Shift turns it on. Be careful with it, it changed my point of aim and I had to fight with it for a while to get it back in order.

Did the creators give any dates or timeframes for the 2.0 update release?
Not as of yet, I occasionally check the main VK site every now and then to see where its up to and so far the creators have finalized their work on the radar section of the game, I would say optimistically Q3 of this year if not longer.
TLDR: Not as of yet but maybe by the end of this year though?
Its me again. Playing this update mod v1.03 again using your translation. Hopefully v2.0 comes out soon. 😀

where did you download the mod? Links here don't work
There are 3 download links in the summary page that lead to a google drive with the game as well as everything you would need to play this mod, I would provide a torrent alternative too but unfortunately to my knowledge its been taken down. I do apologies for the lack of directions but the video tutorial got taken down and all that remains is a tutorial in writing. Hopefully you get to enjoy this beautiful mod with my translation as well.
I try to access the links, but they all tell me that the file does not exist, are there other alternatives apart from this?
