The stand-alone mod S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly aims to be the most stable and customizable experience for fans of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. It's powered by the Monolith 64-bit engine, a custom fork of the X-Ray engine.

Since some people get the wrong impression of what this mod pack tries to achieve, here are some points that should clarify what this is and what it isn't. It should also make it obvious that the goal is not a better performing version of Last Day. For that reason I'll change the way I talk about it from "a Last Day mod pack" to "based on Last Day and other mods".

The main focus in the pack is better graphics and performance. And introducing a 64 bit X-Ray engine that can run many Call of Chernobyl based mods. Last Day is an awesome pack and I really enjoy it a lot, but it's a bit rough round the edges. So in its core, Anomaly tries to preserve the game machanics of Last Day that I enjoyed the most while changing it from hard and punishing to challenging but fair.

The textures and models I wanted to use were raising the system requirements past anything remotely possible with 32 bit versions of the game. So I took on the challenge to port as many 64 bit fixes as I could find on the internet and applying some (many) of my own fixes and tweaks to make it compile and run in 64 bit.

I also didn't like that X-Ray likes to crash quite a bit, especially when you play a longer session. So squashing as many crash bugs as I could find was also a focus in updating the engine to support 64 bit. Just being able to utilize more than 3.8 GB of memory already makes a big difference, but there are also some bugs that are not related to memory issues.

What I did during the 150+ hours of playing this pack so far is to run it in a debugger most of the time. So whenever the game ran into a crash issue, I could see where and why it was failing instead of hoping that it won't crash again if I loaded an older save game.

If you like the Last Day mechanics, but want a bit more balanced and polished experience, this pack might be interesting for you to try.

I made this pack primarily for myself, to enjoy the game the way I imagine it should be. With a very desolate zone where fight are rare but challenging and exciting. And where I can make the money back to buy the bullets that I had to use to kill whomever was shooting at me.

I decided to release it for others to enjoy after a friend tried it and suggested that more people might like to give it a try. But please do not install any add-ons that are not explicitly marked as compatible with Anomaly, it's almost guaranteed that something will break due to the changes and tweaks I made to many scripts and data files.
