Adds SKS and Mosin stripper clips to the game for those who use mags redux
This small addon adds stripper clips for the mosin and the sks. I felt drawn to both these weapons for their lack of mag but when I realised that their animation used stripper clips I felt that they had a somewhat unfair advantage so for those who felt they were missing, here they are. Yes, the icons aren't very good looking, perhaps I'll update them later.
(yes I know you can load these weapons without stripper clips in reality but sadly there isn't an alternate single round loading animation for them yet. I wish for it as much as you do (and for a k98 stripper clip anim too :'( ...). This addon will make the k98 a sniper of choice for those who want a weapon that doesn't need a mag.
Installation:
This addon requires mags redux. No new game needed AFAIK. I've added it into my own game with no issues as of yet. Just install using MO2 and place it after mags redux.
I have done this myself before, I asked the author of Mags Redux but he said no need it.
Well it's optional of course. I just made it for my game and I thought I would share for those who would like them. The best would be to have both options though, either stripper clip or single round loading.
i said doing it correctly would take a major change to how mags redux works.
This isn't correct as strippter clips don't go into the gun, and that is what happens here. When you use a stripper clip you end up with a loaded gun and an empty stripper clip, here the stripper clip goes into the gun and you have to use the remove magazine command to get it out or it comes out when you reload, and when you do that it comes out with the rounds that were in the gun on the stripperclip which definatly it wrong.
For that reason this is not up to my standards so it won't be in redux.
That is not to disparage this addon, its author or ppl that use the addon. If having some sort of stripper clip is more important than having one that works true to life that is up to the user. Redux is extendable for a reason.
Neat trick you can take this and make extended stripper clips and shove more rounds into the gun than it's internal magazine could hold. TARDIS tech weapon improvements. (another thing that a "proper" implementation would have to deal with.)
Yeah I agree that it isn't the best and not 100% realistic. But in my humble opinion I thought it would be better to have them as a choice at least in the meantime because of the unfair advantage that these rifles offer by being the only ones being able to load a full mag in one quick reload without having to first load ammo in the inventory.
I'd rather have something than nothing at all and in this case i'd rather it be 80% functional than to not have the functionality at all. If the only issue is the stripper clip being shown as "inside" the gun in the inventory, then that's a small enough issue for me that I can deal with it.
What I couldn't deal with however was my character pulling out a 10-round loaded stripper clip from nowhere when reloading, that I don't have in my inventory, and that I didn't have to prepare beforehand.
I totally understand if you don't find it up to your standards though. And thanks for making the redux addon, it really made the game 10x better for me!

Ok, the issue should be fixed now. If it still doesn't work you can tell me. and the reason I don't have BAS is that I like uniformity ahah. I would like BAS if it replaced the vanilla models but instead it just adds new weapons. So it's kinda awkward when you find a vanilla weapon. Perhaps I will still install it though

Yes, I just updated it, it should now work. Please report back if there is still an issue as I don't have BAS to test it out. I think the previous issue was just due to a name duplication.

BIG ISSUE WITH THIS MOD BUG
if using mags redux mod and boom stix mod there is missing magzine incons for quit a few guns reinstaling the " mags redux ui con equipment.dds file and over writing this mods ui equipment .dds file alows u to use this m od and gbet back the missings mags redux icons and only be missing this mods world icons ..
cool mod though please use your icons with the latest ui equpiment.dds file so evrything works please
Small question here, Can you make a 35 rounds mag for PPSH ? The gun it's a great start weapon but it only got drum mag and most of early game armor ain't got any slot for it.
So I'm thinking maybe make a 35 round mag that count as a mid size mag to let the gun useable in the early game.
