Hello there. I'm Anubis, the mods creator and mapper. I've been polishing the first map, a lot have changed.  Here you have a picture to see the changes in the first part of the map:

Mod Update

The corpse "mind hurting" feature will be replace. I'll add a visual effect.. but I'm not really sure about what I'm going to do. So.. this is the part when you can help the mod! Just tell me what I should add or you'd like to see (remember I'm just a mapper).

I'm already working in the new sector. I'll show you one image:

Mod Update

Stay tunned! The best part is about to come..
Thank you very much for reading, Anubis.

Let me speak for AnubisGuard when I say this: this appears to take a serious look at a different aspect on the Half-Life universe from a Citizen's perspective. What would sex in a bush serve aside from satisfying a bunch of absent-minded people who can't see the goal of the mod?

I think you honestly shouldn't do a G-Man sighting since mainly the G-Man focused more on people involved in Gordon Freeman's aspect of the story. Maybe just Freeman/Alyx/Barney sightings.

-Some metrocops brutalizing ppl and combine brutalizing stalkers or other combine.
-People talking about the sense of life, and why they deserved all this.
-Maybe Combine and CPs talking about their earlier lives, although combine have lost their memories and CPs have to obey everytime.
-Rebels planning strikes, planting bombs, etc.

A really good idea would also be, to see other cities under combine-management and not just the eastern-europe style C17.
Maybe you could showcast Washington D.C., Tokyo or other great cities, which will also look awesome with Combine Tech.

BTW: What about a male citizen, who locked himself in a room and
who shouts at you: "Get away!" or "Leave me alone!"

a camera (to appear in the "weapon" inventory), take photos of specific scenes (with on screen hint to tell you), so you can show the photos to an NPC to unlock the next part of the mission (bonus for shooting in-jokes/secret areas?)

This requires fairly little additional coding or assets.

hmm, no I didn't really have "spy" in mind. You're protagonist is clearly no James Bond. Perhaps my use the words "mission" and "secret" misdirected you, "map" and "easter egg" may have been more fitting.

I was just trying to think of some tool that the player could use to interact with the NPCs without needing voice acting.

A variation on this theme would be a Notebook (the paper kind) and collectible documents.

Binoculars (to appear in the "weapon" inventory). Since you're just a regular citizen you won't have a hazard suit, so no Zoom. Binoculars for zooming.

Think about that for a second: if the player needs to have a look at something farther away from them, and they are not in an HEV Suit, there's no real option. In order for that to happen, you need to give the player a binocular pair.

Opening scene has the protagonist drinking from a can of "Dr Breens Private Reserve". Which explains why the protagonist has amnesia (they put something in the water!)

I suggest that you do something other than make the player character a "nothing". Taking all power away from a player means that the game in most regards will be entirely unenjoyable. Even average people can be bad ***. You can scale things like damage and health; either giving the player less health and dmg, or enforcers more health and damage. Making head crabs actually fearsome, little things can be turned into very big ones with a little effort.

That's just my two cents. Unless of course you're making this a cinematic adventure; but if you're just a mapper, that is FAR more difficult then giving players some power.

This however is not to say that you aren't a terrified "no body" in the world. Adding these features; making a simple citizen a combine murderer strictly out of circumstance allows you to build up suspense and create a truly terrifying experience. The game can then become something ever more scary, where you feel you have to watch your back 24/7. Running from refuge to refuge, staying hidden. With this you can actually do things like have the character captured, make a scene of suspense where they feel they'll be killed only to be rescued, or escape by pure luck and extraordinary chance.

You just have to give the player character some POWER.

I think you should personalize the you are "nothing" person a bit.
It can help make the player feel more sympathy and "feel" for the person you are playing.
The gorden Freeman that says nothing works in HL because there are other strong personalities around you with which you can interact and give "emotion" to the game.
Since I think that will be much less here I think it would be nice if the person you are playing can comment a bit on the environment or current situation.
Not the big "hey im gonna beat ya combine" but more in the sense of heavy breathing when trying to outrun the combine or when you enter a area that is filled with corpses and you see for example crows eating from a corpse the character would respone with something like: "oh god that's disgusting"
A bit cliché perhaps but I hope you get my point :)

Yes, i really hope someday i found a coder. And yes, war atmosphere will be heavily present all the time.

@FangZandith and Selvator
You're missunderstanding my point. The whole point of the mod is being just a normal guy! If i were in the HL2's world, i wouldn't be a triggerhappy rebel, i'd be an afraid citizen with the only wish of SURVIVE!
The player will use weapons, in VERY RARE situations, with only one or two magazines, you'll be someone but not the protagonist, got my point?
I mean, im tired of playing as the badass brave and inmortal hero, for god's sake!
FangZandith, you said it just well:

The player will have some power, but the point of the mod isnt planting a bomb, or a murder mission, your only objetive is to SURVIVE.
You'll see how **** happens, but you wont be part of the facts :3

ah I think you misunderstood my point there as well ^^
I do NOT want the person you are playing to have any power in any way other then being a simple citizen just like you said.

I understand you don't want the player to be a hero, I am not saying he should be a hero in any way.
I was trying to point out that the emotion part of the game will be important, let the person you are playing give a emotional response to the current situation to show the person you are playing is both visually and mentally affected by events happening around him.
This is not in any way giving the player any power or making him look like a hero, instead it makes the player look like a normal citizen who just tries to survive by hiding like any other sensible person will do in a war situation like you described.

*With player I actually mean the ingame person you are playing.

I hope I corrected my point here AnubisGuard :)
I am really looking forward to the mod, this will be a very unique experience unlike what I have seen in any other games to date.
