SWS is a vast modification set in a lore inspired by the Warring States period of Japanese history. While many of the concepts are inspired by history, this mod is also heavily influenced by Japanese Pop Culture, and how it has portrayed this time in history. In order to better fit the Elder Scrolls universe, this mod will include fantastical elements such as magic, demons and other RPG staples.
(Kimono is a general term for 'old' Japanese clothing. We use it regularly, for the sake of simplicity)
Here are two 'Elemental Kimonos.' Both will be craftable. The first has a very high resistance to fire, and is crafted from Fire Rat pelts. The second, obviously has a high resistance to frost type magic, and can be crafted from the pelts of mountain animals such as the snow wolf.

Weird how in many games items protecting from heat are red while items protecting from cold are blue... My train of thought would be that a (magic) item that is red radiates heat, in consequence protecting the wearer from "cold" attacks such as ice and maybe water while a blue outfit does the opposite, cooling down flames and protecting the wearer from burns.
Maybe that's just me being weird, though.
Your logic isn't flawed, but aesthetically, people associate red with heat and blue with cool, and in this case the person (in world) who designed these items might want people to quickly identify what that item protects against.
Not to mention the light blue blends into snow environments a bit better. But I see where you're coming from.
