They can't really and don't really need to add to much more detail, because firstly if there's too much detail and a whole lot of trees you'll get the possibility of unnecessary lag when you start to have lots of units on the map. Plus the camera in-game is really just an overhead camera so you really won't get an angle like this unless JC has edited the camera so that it could get to this angle but there's really no need to do that.
That camera angle is possible with the new cam we use in sote,. You cant really add more details to the tree's. Those are stock model props from the vanilla EAW - just scaled up.
