An unofficial, fan made, TC project set in the SciFi Universe of Warhammer 40.000, with aim of high quality content with realism and believability as key focus. The scenario plays on a made-up world of the name Samarsk. Opposing factions are Imperial Guard, Renegades and PDF primarily.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Q: When can we expect a first release?
    • Intentionally vague answer: When two opposing factions have enough content completely finished and enough variety to enable smaller combined arms land based encounters. That means a bare minimum of copy pasta placeholders, no unoptimised models/scripts, etc. A small thematically fitting “demo” terrain is also a condition at this time.

Usage:

  1. Q: Will this be playable for everyone or will it be limited to only few select servers?
    • This project is strictly non-profit.
    • Everyone will be able to download and play this mod for free (when available)
    • Every server-owner can install it on his server, provided he does not monetize (see next question)
  2. Q: What is with monetization? (Arma 3's servers monetization program, or otherwise)?
    • Monetization of content from this mod is not allowed.
    • You are not allowed to create a server with this mod, that takes payments or"donations" in exchange for <anything whatsoever>. No preferred slots, no special rights, no special titles, etc. A donation with a return value/benefit is not a donation! Ask your lawyer...
    • You are not allowed to upload and redistribute the files on file-distribution servers/websites with pay-walls or traffic slow downs for non-paying users.
  3. Q: Can i repack the mod together with other mods?
    • No, we don't allow it. Use Steam Workshop's Collection /dependancy feature for this.

Requirements

  1. Q: Do i need to own Arma 3 for playing the mod ?
    • Yes, that is the only way how mods work.
  2. Q: Will it require DLC/ APEX Expansion?
    • No, at this point. But it may change depending on the development of our terrain/ terrain assets and BI’s policy for using for example textures and vegetation from a DLC in a mod. However, we will only use DLC content if there is a very good reason to do so.
  3. Q: Do i need to sign up somewhere to get it/use it?
    • Not, there is no signup. Everyone gets the mod at the same time. It will be available here, at ModDB and also at Steam Workshop.

Mod Content

  1. Q: Will there be Astartes? A:
    • No, not in the forseeable future. It's not ruled out, but the focus is elsewhere.
  2. Q: Will there be Xenos (Alien races - Eldar, Tau, etc)?
    • No, most improbable. Too much things still need to be done for both chaos and imperial factions to even think about this.
  3. Q: Will there be Titans/ similarly huge warmachines?
    • Unlikely, due to too large scale for gameplay and animation work involved (requires custom skeleton with all custom animations - less than for Astartes though). Not impossible but simply too low priority compared to most other things.
  4. Q: You know there is another 40k Project, right?
    • (X3KJ) "Yes indeed. I've contacted them quite early on. They focus less on individual detail or super-realism (compared to my goal) and instead more on variety. I can totally respect that, since not everybody has the nerve to go into as much detail/feels the need to do it as i do. We both came to the mutual conclusion that it just would look completely wrong when having units from both projects side by side due to the stylistic differences. Still, there is room for collaboration (sound or effect department for example). So if you where wondering - no this is not a result of some silly rivalry or personal drama. Just different goals. Also, let it be known i was first to start working for A3 ;P"
