Very strange that a mod has so many low ratings but only ONE review. It's time to do god's work and report back.

I loved Residual Point and Residual Life, so I have a feeling I'll enjoy Residual Error too, since it's made by the same guy(s). Let's get into it.

Citadel intro was an interesting spin on Point Insertion. Not really believable, but interesting. I wish you could talk to the citizens. Missed opportunity for world-building.

The HEV suit introduction was so weird. Why was that just chilling there? What on earth were those Combine soldiers doing in the lockers? Is this that "non-mechanical reproduction simulation" I hear so much about?

I'm so confused as to why I even have an HEV suit. And they let me just walk around jail cells full of civilians? How is that not a security issue? The intro sequence was just nonsensical, but kinda fun as long as you don't think too deep into it.

Insane amount of health pickups. I can't die.

Wait, why is the Resistance attacking me?

Moody, somber atmosphere. Great scenery and lighting. Detailed environments. The mapping is quite enjoyable with a nice sense of forward progression.

Antlion section had some great immersion. Good choice of music and sounds. The gunshots and Antlion screams were the perfect background cacophony to this... wait, where exactly am I? Environments sometimes don't make sense, but they FEEL good. Strong horror vibes reminiscent of OG Half-Life.

The game is pretty easy, but it feels high stakes. Would be much better with a little combat balancing.

Still not sure why I'm blasting citizens, rebels, and Combine seemingly working together. And why do the rebels make the Combine death sound?

Ends abruptly, but leaves me salivating for more. Certainly nowhere close to deserving a 5.6. The only reason I could fathom for rating this so low if you're not some bot is due to the wacky setting. Not sure I would say it has much story, but the world we're in is weird. People need to learn to turn off their brain. Not everything has to be Homer's ******' Odyssey.

It is however an absolute blast to play. Author made some bizarre plot decisions, but the gameplay is there, save for the limitless ammo and health pickups. Weirdly reminiscent of Kill the Monk. Nix the goofy story, tighten up the combat, slap in some semblance of a Half-Life 2 side quest vibe, and baby you've got a stew.

Probably deserves a 7/10, but I gave it an 8 because it's fun and the world needs more fun.

It's a well balanced and fun mod to play. I updated the maps, so I had time to get to understand the mod. The maps I had to work with are clean and easy to understand. There is little dialog, but it despite that, it flows nicely along. It suddenly is cut short though at the end.
