After a long time of developing Reign of the Undead 2 has reached beta stages. The serverside files will be released soon, a little while after that an installer for those who wish to play singleplayer/LAN. Rotu2 is however still in development and some features are still incomplete or missing. Right now, these are the current features:
- Complete rewrite. The mod does not use a single line of IW's scripts any more, which results into much better performance. Mod has been tested with 36 players and 30 zombies, completely lag free.
- AI improvements, zombies are faster and move more smoothly.
- Classes redone, much more abilities and better menus and skillpoint system. (wip)
- Infection, players can turn into zombies.
- Purchasable barricades/turrets: barrels, exploding barrels, barrels + mg, turrets and portal
- Much more configuration dvars
- New atmospherical effects
- New weapon system(s)
- Gametype slightly changed, does not go on forever.
- Different types of zombies, each having their own special wave. Some new models.
- One final boss zombie.
- New waypoint placement system (support for regular maps planned) (wip)
- Rotu Blackout, map for LAN/SP. (wip)
- Support for more mod customization.
- Much more...

I didn't like the Rotu2 alpha weapon system when I played on the server. Is that going to change?
I agree with you on this one. It's either going to change or I'll add alternatives.
It amazes me that you guys can make a zombie mod better than the zombie mode treyarch managed to squeeze out in black ops.

ive had a problem with the beta server. i joined once got stuck under a stupid muchroom house and had to disconnect. ever since then it kept saying server is for low ping players only. what am i doing wrong???

I became a huge fan of it in like 2 days.
Great work and congrats for all the stuff you've made.
There is although something that I don't like with this mod.
Its really easy. I've been playing with 2 friends on level 4 (hardest so far) and the zombies can't kill us.
What always happens is that we start running round and round an obstacle, we throw C4 and kill 15 zombies with each. Then we use our specials and we restore our energy and ammo and then the same again.
+ The boss zombie is easy because its health depends on the players.
I've noticed that this mod on the internet seems rather hard and is not meant for 2-4 players.
It would be a good idea for a hardest game (like 5 difficulty) to have the zombies run faster than a sprinting man, and have the Boss Zombie level with spawning zombies (That would be really fun, trying to C4 the Boss while getting away from the boss) because the boss chases one player only and the other players get revived, or before kniving he would have to be hit with crossbows.
+The special waves are easier than the other ones. Even hell zombies are easy.
I've read that there is a mapping tut for this mod (I know some mapping and modding) but I can't seem to be able to find it. Is there any link?
Keep up the good work anyways. I love this mod!
Mod is great, just make zombies a little harder for 1-4 players, and fix the problem with frag grenade, it kills you permanently. Try to fix the bug when zombies are walking through the floor, especialy dogs. Also you should make some classic, inferno, or hell zombies spawn together with the boss zombie. ;)

Any news on when this comes out of Beta and we can create servers? I'm part of a weekly LAN party and we'd love to play this mod.
Waiting for singleplayer support? I don't have the greatest net, so I can't exactly play on the servers, but I really want to try this out, it looks great!
