The Battle Fortress Is more heavily armored and has a larger capacity.
The "Striker" Strike Fortress is faster and uses missiles.

I like the look of the Air-field as well.
That is actually the Super Airfield. You need a CC to get it. It makes Wyvrn's and Aurora's. The ADA version makes Sky Dragon bombers and Black Eagle MkII fighters
The normal airfield is still there, just out of site.
