Speedmodding is a competition where coders try and make a complete mod within a predefined boundary of time. Quake has a long and decorated history of speedmodding events of all sorts of types and lengths, and that tradition still lives. Quake SpeedMod #01 was held by Harb on Inside3d.com and gamesnet #qc on the weekend of Friday 28th January to Saturday the 29th, 2005. The modders were given a single primitive map with a set of unlabelled entities in it, and were told to create any mod they liked with the resources supplied. The second catch is, all mods had to have the theme of 'QUAKE MODDING IN 1997' Several varied mods were produced: The Great Skirmish of 1997 by Cheapalert Fight against monsters with new skins & sounds, with new weapons, in order to track down and kill the deadly STEVE before he launches the nuke!
