Mason Background Thread - Project TARSUS mod for Deus Ex

Conner Mason is an ex-military operative for the MJ12. During his service with the secret organization, he was assigned a post at the Area 51 laboratories. His duty, along with several others, was to guard the AI control systems and make sure no one without proper clearance entered the area.

While at Area 51, he began to disagree with their ideologies of world control and their extremities for scientific exploration. He found out over time that this was the birthplace of the gray death and ambrosia. This was where they implemented the Aquinas Router, the most advanced surveillance system ever known to man, to monitor the actions and conversations of the entire world. People were dying in the outside world because of something he was willing to protect.

As the events of JC Denton approached, he could not stand the sight of this organization. Yet he kept his mouth shut, knowing that if he spoke up about his moral beliefs, they would not let him leave, much less live. He had seen too much to back out now. At this point, he was stuck.

Then the events of JC Denton occurred. Upon his arrival at Area 51, most troops carried out their loyal duties to the MJ12 and fought to protect the site and all its treasures. Others left their posts entirely in fear of death. Conner, however, did nothing. He stayed at his position in the AI System Controls Room, as Bob Page instructed him to do, and watched JC wreck havoc on everyone and everything. He was a man on a mission. To some, he would save the world. To others, he would destroy it. To Conner, it was a chance to rebuild his own world at the very least.

As JC approached the AI System, Page commanded the AI construct to begin the merging sequence. However, Helios had a plan the entire time that Page was not aware of. JC Denton was a more suitable candidate to merge with than Bob. As the merge between the two began, systems began to surge. Power outages destabilized the power core reactors in facility. Electrical systems began to malfunction. At this point, Conner new everything was over and began his escape from the facility.

After the destruction of Area 51, the Illuminati gathered up whatever resources were remaining in public office and began weeding out each and every MJ12 official. They began charging them with accounts of treason, conspiracy to overthrow the government, and murder along with many others. Hundreds received the death penalty. Others were sentenced to life in prison.

During this time, Mason wanted to clear his conscience and decided to go public about the MJ12 and what secrets they kept in the Area 51 facility. However, as soon as he was about to go public, he was arrested on charges of treason. The Illuminati did not want such information to get out to the public and would do anything to prevent that from happening.
