Welcome to Project Reality: Battlefield 2 (aka PR:BF2), a free to download game modification for the Battlefield 2 (aka BF2) retail Windows PC game. The focus of this mod is to rework the original game engine developed by Digital Illusions of Sweden (Dice) within legal and feasible constraints to create a more realistic combat environment for the gaming community. This includes adjusting various game play elements including physics, visual effects and overall game play formats. Along with changes to how the game handles, the Project Reality team has been introducing British, Insurgent, IDF forces, Canadian, and Russian factions, plus a number of community assisted factions are currently in the works to introduce even more factions to the virtual battlefields. This Mod is not for the masses, due to the fact that it has a much higher learning curve then your classic arcade game. This is the real deal.
With the upcoming release date (Friday 23rd) drawing nearer, we feel that now is a good time to release some info about the features of Project Reality v0.85. Project Reality v0.85 Manual As with with every release of Project Reality, [R-DEV]Spearhead has put together a detailed PDF Manual explaining all the new, and old, game play changes to accommodate both beginner and veteran players. This should make for some good reading material while you wait for your download to finish.

Project Reality v0.85 Manual

In v0.85, the Taliban will take over from the Insurgents on all of our Afghanistan based maps. Gameplay wise, the Taliban will be similar to the Insurgents but with certain aspects of "PR Conventionalism". They will have Rally Points and the ability to request kits from weapon caches.
We've redefined the former "Militia" as the "Chechen Rebels". Upgrades include new kit load outs for both spawn and requested kits, as well as their very own Chechen Flag
Over the past few months the PR team has been expanding our Kalashnikov collection. There are five brand new Kalashnikov's for you to play with across multiple factions, each with many
We could no longer justify using the original BF2 model to represent the most iconic rifle in the world! Modelled by [R-DEV]Katarn, Skinned by [R-CON]FIST, Exported by [R-DEV]Katarn and Animated by [R-DEV]Chuc, the new AK-47 really gets the detail it truly deserves and adds a lot to the Insurgent, Taliban and Chechen Militia Factions. Many players will be feeling very content spraying some Soviet era ammo down range with this beauty!
- AK-47 Bayonet
Modelled by [R-DEV]Katarn, Skinned by [R-CON]FIST, Exported by [R-DEV]Katarn and Animated by [R-DEV]Chuc, the AK-47 Bayonet really gives you some added reach for those bayonet charges.
As previously showcased, the AK-74M is the main assault rifle of the new Russian Forces. Ironsight, 1P29 Optics, and GP-25 variants are all included.
The original AK-74 series used by the Insurgents, Chechen Militia and the Taliban.
The AKS-74U is a shorter version of the AK-74, designed to be small and lightweight making it perfect for vehicle crews and for combat in small, enclosed spaces. Used by the Russian Forces, the Insurgents, Chechen Militia and the Taliban its going to be a very popular weapon in-game for those who want a nice, small, fast firing weapon. The model is courtesy of the United States Intervention mod from Black Sands Studios.
An Iraqi made heavy-barrelled version of the AK. The Al-Quds is a good medium for both laying down suppressive fire as well as being used effectively on the move. Yet another weapon courtesy of the United States Intervention mod from Black Sands Studios.
With Project Reality v0.85, the MEC will be using the Russian made T-72. In a future release we plan to replace this with the T-72M1M, which is the modern export version of the T-72. Again, thanks goes to the United States Intervention mod from Black Sands Studios who have done a wonderful job on this tank.
PF-98 Heavy Anti-tank
The PLA have finally received their own Heavy Anti-Tank weapon. The PF-98 is essentially a 120mm bazooka. Unlike the SRAW, or the Eryx, it has no guidance system. It can, however, be deployed quicker and still packs a deadly punch.

Project Reality v0.8 Server Release Information
All server administrators with current licenses will be sent the Project Reality v0.85 server files as soon as they are available via the Licensed PR Game Server Admin CP. Those of you hoping to run new Project Reality servers must first complete a Project Reality server license application and become approved before you can get the server files so the sooner you do it the better since processing of your application may take some time.
Important note regarding 0.85 download options
As with the past several releases, we've been bombarded with requests for a 0.8->0.85 incremental patch. Unfortunately, we won't be able to provide one. This decision was made so that the development of Project Reality could be far more efficient. We've had problems with having incremental patches in the past which hampered bug fixing efforts and slowed down development. As such, we decided to go with a full install for the development of v0.85. Hopefully all of you with bandwidth limitations will be lenient with us for making this decision.
That's all from us for now folks, keep your eyes on the Project Reality site and forums for more information on the much anticipated v0.85 release!
