You are a prisoner in the Combine Omega Prison complex in an unknown location. One day you feel a presence watching you and shortly disaster happens. Coincidental or not, your chance to escape has come. Fight through the prison against the zombified denizens and still living security to reach freedom and see the outside world once again.
Mod is a simple prison escape map, something I've seen dozens of times across multiple games, but Omega Prison has a bit of nice touches despite it's rough edges.
Geometry and level layout can be cumbersome but the progression and scripted events give it a sense of life and chaos that you don't see quite often from beginner maps/mods.
Combat is tense in many parts which leaves the player feeling they lack the odds the enemy has but gives enough wiggle-room for most players to persevere. Ammo doesn't become much of a problem over the course of the mod but it does feel balanced enough that the player is not drowning in resources.
Otherwise, it's a pretty damn good mod despite progression issues and cumbersome puzzles requiring interaction with consoles the player was not instructed could be interacted with unless done as a last resort. Has some nice set-pieces and great atmosphere!
Nice mod, design-wise and playtime-wise. Only the end feeled somehow cut-off. Also there were a few moments of type "what the hell should I do now or where should I go", thankfully there is a walkthrough on youtube.
Overall, I would recommend this mod.
