All games developed on Cryengine have that phrase, e.g. Homefront The Revolution does. It's like logo of Unity in any game developed on Unity. That is firstly, secondly - this is fan made non commercial game, so they should be fine, GSC are nice guys, not some EA or similar shite.

Looks great but changes the atmosphere away from the oppressive, miserable, gritty feeling.
Dunno about that. Stil seems reasonably the same. Half of the game's atmosphere was also the sounds, which this seems to fill nicely.

Why would they steal assets from stalker? The ship looks exactly the same as the one in CoP

I agree, at current state all clues point toward scamming. The concept is very appealing towards desperate stalker fans me included.
