The united states department of defense was unhappy with the price per unit and decided large scale manufacturing would take billions of dollars and years to get a useful number of the MBT. 150 Experimental tanks were sold to the highest bidder, The Brotherhood of NOD. Heavily Modified with An "Alpha" Class military laser the new Abraham X3A1 is the most advanced tank ever created. But that technology comes with a steep price, and an equally steep production time, and only limited numbers are allowed to serve in active duty, as they are preferred for defense of the NOD continental Command.
