In Nightmare House 2 you wake up inside an abandoned hospital with no understanding of how you came to be there, only a vague memory of the girl from Nightmare House haunts you. Soon it will be difficult to determine between a dream and reality. How long will it take you to realize that escape is not an option?
I don’t play horror mods as a rule; I generally hate the excessive zombie killing that is so prevalent in theses games. So why do I give this a maximum score? Simply because it is the most outstanding Half Life 2 mod I have ever played!
The prologue is the weakest part and that itself is a scary little masterpiece of thrills and scares!
The rest of the mod set in that amazingly scary “Never Lose Hope Hospital” is epic horror action al the way!
There’s even a good horror back-story to!
The graphics are very good with lots of satisfyingly artistic blood-splatter for those budding “Dexter’s” and a good creepy level of grime.
The atmosphere is enhanced by inspired use of sound effects and some great scene setting music, giving this player a sense of unease every step of the way, along with moments of heart pounding shock!
This would make one hell of a great horror film!
But it makes for a great game, one I would not have touched if I hadn’t seen some play-through footage on “YouTube”, during some surfing!
I never thought the best HL2 mod would be a horror!
Congratulations to the creators of such a wonderful masterpiece of the modder’s art……
PS. I don’t know which was the most disturbing, those dark shadow people, or those faceless mannequins!
