I was trying to update the models to work with the remastered version but it's a bit tricky and i dont know if it can be done without remaking the models specificly for the kex engine.
Any likelihood of adding support for the Quake 2 Mission Packs, The Reckoning, Ground Zero, & Zaero (a lot of people consider it to be the 3rd official Mission Pack)?
This weapon model pack is compatibile with all the mission packs. If You are asking however will I make replacements for the new weapons that are in those mission packs then yes that is the plan. But unfortunately i can't say when will that happen because real life tends to get in the way.
Does this change the balancing by any chance? Asking since I feel like the shotgun was made worse.
Edit: Definitely just an impression. Restarted and the shotgun felt normal, wonder what's up with that.
I didn't change anything in the code so shotgun should work the same as the original one.

I won't say no but i have never done models for VR so I would need to research it a bit and see if it is doable.
