Man, much as I like the going for realism thing (actually, because of it, too, for that matter!) everyone doing 'helmet' mods like this needs to realize this is not how human eyes work.. you actually DON'T get this sort of vision, you see normally, this is just an unnecessary unrealistic hindrance which is only remotely realistic if we're talking deliberately looking up or down to see the inside of your mask/goggles..otherwise there'd be none of this stuff visible when wearing a mask.
I see where you're coming from and I thought about this quite some time but I realized in action you always focus the centre, not the edges of the screen. I've worn gas masks, vision is definitely limited. If you can't stand it feel free to edit textures, it's easy.
