Well,Well,
...
There is something i want to tell before i'll start to babble out with
*cough* ExtinctCity.
One year is over - exactly one year since i've watched this site the last
time.
Today at work i've thought of this mod - why did we stop it? why did my
harddrive crashed with all that mod-files on it? And how should i have one
little chance to lift my mod up from the other thousands of mods?
Well...
It's all about time, isn't it? and time isn't something i have much of.
I'm in a apprenticeship, in half a year i'll finish it and will start to
work. ExtinctCity shouldn't been just a mod - it was rather a personal
dream, a 'art' of the flow which flows through my mind since i've played
SILENT HILL THREE.
Since that moment I've started with the mod, i had absolutely no idea what
i will map or script in ExtinctCity, there was no plan, because the way to
map was my game.
---Why did you stopped the development?---
-> because the last made part was lost - some amazing maps which my
mapping partner made, but they got lost in a harddrive crash - i tried to
recover these files for a whole year through all recovery programs out
there - no hope.
---But you can start over again, just that one crash isn't that bad!---.
-> It is, and secondary, i couldn't start over again because i have two
hours for myself at a day, and some big programming projects started in
which i'm involved with.
--Why didn't you wrote anything since one year?---
-> Because i'm in trouble with other projects, learning C++ and OPENGL,
and ExtinctCity was dead in private.
-- at the title, you said, 'lift' the mod up??--
-> Yes, i mean, there are SO F******NG much HL2-mods that you could play
your entire life.
i would never have a chance against them, because even if i would spend my
two hours, i would never have the time to make custom models, sprites,
soundtracks, cinematics and textures - all by myself.
-------------------------------------------
ExcinctCity isn't dead(literally!).
There are plenty of mods i've started from zero since the last update
here, but only little rooms or some lighting.
I will merge all of them into one mod with a playing time of one hour or
less.
there is no explicit plot or story behind it, at first, ExtinctCity was
developed as a Horror game, where Gordon Freeman should find out dirty
secrets of Dr. Breen at this zombie city, but from now on, it will be a
"travel through my head", with a completely different scene behind every
door.
ExtinctCity has many bugs and isn't optimized for speed, but maybe my game
has it's personal charm that it isn't perfect at all - just like me. We
all have leaks in our personality.
by that way, the first maps of ExtinctCity are the first one i've ever
mapped, so please don't expect wonders.
--What if you had the time to start a new mod?--
-> It would be a mod with just a few enemies(not much shooting), the most
time you would explore caves, forests, underground cities and - you would
drive with a electrical-magnetical-highspeed train through the forest. By
the way, i would compose many soundtracks and would add them into each
scene.
Personal thanks to everyone who watch this game, and thanks for the
commentaries, i saw them today.
I will start tomorrow with the merging process and hope that some people
here still want to play it.

Looks strange indeed.....am Tracking
Thanks :) that's right, the light-effects are not the best till now, but they are all still in BETA-Phase, so the Lighting isn't completed yet :P
Well its a good idea but you need to work a bit more on your mapping. Its good except it needs a little more detail and lighting effects.
