This is a very cool mod in concept, and there's been a lot of admirable
work done on it. However, I agree with the other comments made about
the free roam mode feeling a little empty, and I've also had the same
issue as GRIM3 with zombies sometimes disappearing right in front of
you. Another issue I've noticed seems to be a glitch with the zombies
animations where sometimes a zombie's jaw appears to be stretched into
the model in such a way that it looks like it's missing. I guess it's
kinda okay since they are zombies and might have a missing jaw, but I'm
pretty sure this was not intended and it's a little annoying.
I
know it's 2013 and all, but plenty of people are still playing and
modding for San Andreas, so I would urge you, please don't give up on
Left 4 Theft! Don't let the 3.1 release be the final build, yeah? If you
were to fix the mentioned bugs, and incorporate some player suggestions
this could be truly amazing! Since this is a suggestion thread, here
are a few of my own...
1. Increase zombie density and fix
disappearing zombies: In free mode it mostly feels like the streets are
completely empty. This is especially true when you're driving around in a
car. You rarely see more than a group of four or five zombies appearing
occasionally. It would be fun to have to fear traveling a long distance
because there are larger numbers of zombies roaming the streets,
especially at night! There should be enough that they swarm your vehicle
if you stop. Also the bug with zombies sometimes disappearing right
near you is strange and disappointing..please fix that.
2. Option
to build custom fortress in free mode: I haven't played too far into
free yet so I'm not sure if you actually can do this already, but if not
it would be cool to allow players to build a custom fortress in free
roam the same way we can in fortress mode.
3. More human drama,
more non-faction related allies to recruit: So far in free mode I've
noticed that the story mostly seems centered around the warring factions
of survivors. It would be more interesting to see more missions about
regular survivors trying to save their families, losing loved ones, friends
etc. And would be cool to be able to recruit special survivors with
their own stories/background like.. a man who works at a fast food
restaurant, and you have to do a mission to save him, then he becomes a
friend you can get to join you and drive with etc.
4.
Sound/Radio DLC pack: I know that you've updated the mod to have zombie
sounds, and that's cool but the game still seems pretty quiet. Would it
be possible for you to release an optional DLC sound pack in the future?
You could have some ambient sounds like.. zombies howling/moaning in
the distance, maybe the sound of crows flying overhead. And what would
be really neat would be a custom radio station or two. Maybe one channel
that's like a survivor's news broadcast, giving information about the
outbreak and interviewing other survivors, giving survival tips etc.
Another radio station could just be a music station operated by a
survivor who plays music to "slay zombies by" or something like that.
So,
in closing here I think this is a nice mod but it's lacking and hasn't
quite reached its full potential yet. There are also some disappointing
bugs that need to be fixed up. If you're up for continuing to improve
the mod, I would love to help you in any way that I can! I'm not the
most knowledgeable with coding or very technical things, but I do have
modding experiencing and some graphic design skill I could put to use. I
can do a lot of voices and could also do some voice acting if you need
it for anything. Send me a PM if you'd like to talk about it!
