Because this side is in shadow :
However, this is still V.I.P. without 100% working shadows.

The palm bark texture is changed. Also there will be a better ocean water shader[ also one for indoor, not sure about lakes ].

because i'm currently in deep research in polycounts vs FPS i found out that my ocean in recruiting eats about 950.000 polygones ^^ and the terrain ALWAYS, even if only 1 triangle is shown, uses 30.000 !

but i also found out, if the polygon is always the same, FPS dont drop down, veeeeery strange. what i have done: copied a hummer with 30.000 polies fifty times in a already extrem well stuffed environment and i get no single FPS drop (regarding to one hummer). the engine seems to be optimized in that way, but why the hell the ocean eat up all the polygones ? pls report to me if you find out a intresting trick to reduce polygoncount of ocean :)

Terrain: It`s because the engine renders the whole sector, not only visible triangles.

Also the polycount itself has rather low/medium influence of the FPS, shaders and physics do.

Water: Make sure your water tesselation variable is switched off. Also there`s no way to reduce the polycount as far as I know. Hardcoded probably.

There`s no point at this stage since it`s not yet final and optimized! :P
