In their quest to destroy the rebellion, the Combine raid a decrepit asylum suspected of harboring a communications outpost. The only thing standing in their way is the paranoid schizophrenic Patient #564, Dominic Crowley, who suffers from frequent delusions and has no problem with senseless violence.
This is the main stairwell. Originally, the center shaft was closed off, which made the setting pretty boring because it seemed like just another series of hallways and was extremely claustrophobic (which wouldn't be very fitting for an asylum). I definitely like the open feeling of this stairwell and it offered a nice wide view of the lightning effect from the windows (which isn't shown in this shot, unfortunately).
Note that the railing is entirely brush-based and ugly, but will be replaced with a model in the future (once I find a modeler, of course).
