This project is the continuation of our work in Warband crusade MOD "In the Name of Jerusalem". We will continue to extend and improve the old settings. The new campaign map will expand to the Upper Danube, the Nile Delta, the Dinaric Alps, and Transcaucasia. The Bulgarian Empire and Grand Principality of Serbia will be added. Kingdom of Georgia, the Saltukids and the Artuqids (probably Eldiguzids) may comes later. The timeline still starts from 1187, but we will try to add more interesting historical events until 1204 - including the Fourth Crusade.

what is it with the aventails on these eastern type helmets of the late 12th century and early 13th century and these seljuk helmets do look like they may have been inspired by pieces of parthian and sassanid equipment

Yeah those are based on Romance of Varqa and Gulshah and my explain is neck plates. It's like the earlier lamellar aventail turkic people used.

Man these guys look WAY too fat and disproportionate. I doubt they had armor that was that limiting, especially when looking at historical references.

It is because of the limitation on M&B2; engine if we don't want any clipping. Because the in-game cloth physic is different from real cloth physic.
