This Review and account were created to combat Nuare's pretty stupid view, and as such the review doesn't actually reflect my actual thoughts on the mod. I'd genuinely rate it around a 7 or an 8 since it's a lot of fun and has interesting takes on Zelda, but also has a frustrating amount of bugs, issues, and story problems. So, once again, this is moreso to combat Nuare's ******** review score.

So, to start, it seems like Nuare made a pretty simple mistake in thinking that Hyrule Conquest (HC) is an update of Hyrule Total War (HTW), and therefore he'd need to buy a Total War game to play it. Just one problem with that, HC is not for Total War, and it's not the same as HTW. HC is a Continuation/reboot of HTW being remade in the (currently developing) 0 A.D Engine, an engine/game that is COMPLETELY FREE. I understand his frustration in buying a different game by accident, but that's his own fault for not paying attention. Neph shouldn't have to recoup your money for you not paying attention, that was your problem.

Also, this mod has not ceased development. It's updates are coming frustratingly slow, yes, but they're still coming. Hell, Neph posted Pics of the next faction in the image section here. The Sheikah and Stalfos are just taking a long time to make, and Stealth not being in 0 A.D isn't helping. The only other Game Neph would be working on to my knowledge is that Star Fox mod he's been working on in the background. Maybe his one of his own personal he's been working on, but I don't know about that.

As for the Community bit... not really sure. Not a part of the Discord server and the community outside of that doesn't seem very active. Still though, I can't help but think Nuare's problem with them came from his own attitude, as the interactions I've had with the community tend to be pretty ok. They've got issues (like their ******* Zelda opinions and such), but they're also pretty helpful.

All in all, Nuare's a *******, and a rude one at that. Calling someone a scumbag because you couldn't figure out their mod when others could. I wish you the best of luck finding and installing HTW if you have the right version of Total War, but kindly **** off from this community you *******.

Edit: There is also the possiblility that Nuare downloaded the most recent version of 0 A.D, which isn't actually compatible with the current version of HC, though the next version of HC should be. At the moment, you need to download the .23 version of 0 A.D, not the .24 version, otherwise HC just flat out won't work at all. The summary should have a link to the download for the previous version, though I doubt Nuare wants to play any HC at this point

An amazing mod, loads of cool and interesting factions, a deep lore, many gameplay mechanics, amazing music, custom ai and several other interesting features makes this mod stand out! It gets better and better with each update. Well done HC team!

I couldn't not give this a ten, seriously ive never seen a modder(S) care so much about their mod. Seriously check out the PDF files alone that cover the factions in detail most dont even know they exist yet the effort put into this above on beyond what id expect from an actual game developer studio. i wish the modders all the best. you are seriously the most underrated modders ive ever seen.

This mod is from Zelda universe but it follows different cannon and storytelling. Which is from my point of view big plus because author has many new different stories to tell and it presents different obstacles of its own in other words this mod is not only Zelda RTS, it contains much more than Zelda itself. Contains new factions, units, mechanics, music and its own story. This mod is actually successor of Hyrule: Total War, this mod deserves a 10/10 in my mind.

Please keep in mind that this reviewer is reviewing 0.7 version of the still not complete mod.

Pros: + Original ideas, + some new music, + new mechanics developed independently from original game to match the needs of the mod, + new units, factions and maps, +good storytelling (so far one mission) + bug reports are handled quickly

Cons:-it is not that well balanced (subjective), - missing tutorials

Suggestion: Maybe add some tutorials for each faction since they have different play-styles.

I gave this 10 out of 10 because This is basically a very ambitious Mod to convert Zelda into a Battle for Middle Earth inspired Real-time Strategy game. And that's okay. I love that there are so many factions (16+ factions with different mechanics, units, techs, and buildings) Also This is the best mod to play while I wait for new versions of Warlords Battlecry 3 The Protectors mod.

A ten. Easily a ten. Maybe it isn't the best game. It has its flaws, its bugs, its needed updates. It even has things I don't agree with.
What gives this a ten? UndyingNephalim REALLY cares. He is making this better all the time. He is using a lot of his own time to give us this so far great game, that is becoming greater and greater all the time. He also answers everyone's questions uses his time to answer the same question repeatedly and calm any fears. In the end, it will be HIS game (so no use whining about any features). He himself as the authority. He knows what he is doing and will produce something great. I for one look forward to all this has to offer and urge you too as well!

The mod needs work, but I can see from the progress made how dedicated the team is to making the perfect Hyrule overhaul... performance is the main drawback here.
