This is my strong headcrab, also known as a warcrab.
EXTRACTED FROM THE HEADCRAB TUTORIAL:
When headcrabs witness many of their fellow headcrab's deaths, and fight hard enemies, evolve into strong headcrabs, which have armor all over their body, to protect them from these things, and develop an exoskeleton. They turn their hosts into strong zombies, which are stronger, and very big. They frighten the enemy alot. They can smash through walls. When they get even older, and fatter, they grow stronger.
FACTFILE:
-Don't step on him. It'll slow you down and hurt A LOT.
-He's heavy, but fast. If he jumps on you, it'll hurt plenty.
-Don't shoot his armor. Shoot / Hit him on his skin (EG: LEGS AND BELLY) or blow him up.
-If the zombie version comes near you, RUN!!!
-The zombie version can break a tank. You'll need lots of ammo to take him down. But when the headcrab is down, he'll die. These guys never think they'll die, so they use the zombie as an actual body. Therefore, they have no meat in themselves, so when the body dies, it dies.

No, smaller, and weaker, but still...y'know, like the hulk. I know the hulk can carry the gargie, but that's in a parallel universe :P
my friend asked me to post his idea:
"The idea of a strong headcrab is good, but I didn't get the spikes. It looks like he's wearing a pan with spikes on his head, sorry for that, but it's true... I know it isn't easy, but you should try to make him looking natural, that he's "stronger" because the evolution forced him to be, and I don't think that a metal helmet is a product of headcrab's evolution. I think that you should try to make them look more heavy, and with a strong exoskelet. I think that for it you should try making it look more solid, because these headcrabs looks a little like they're jelly-like. So, instead of warm soft, make it rock cold. And for that, I think good textures are the key. I'm sure that you can find one that fits well, and that do the job. Also, on the game they should have some more health, and deal more damage. The idea for "strong" zombies, is zombies with more health, more damage, and bigger than others, heavily deformed, by having a form in change, and creating a lot of muscle mass, it doesn't need to be like the L4D's tank, just a zombie more muscular, and that you look at and think
Oh, I don't want to be punched by that thing."

I already thought of the exosceleton, but couldn't decicde on how to do it. He'd need a thick one, though. Maybe like a big momma! I'll work on it today.
But it will be kinda like the L4D tank. Except not as strong. But still more frightening. Therefor, he'll be bigger, and more decayed. He'll also have more defense than an average zombie, obviously. This guy should think he'll never die.
But someone already made the zombie you where talking about. I can't remember the mod name, but someone made a normal zombie with huge arms.
I know that zombie you talk, but also do not remember the mod, as the exoskeleton you could do the headcrab looking like a rock (but only on top of it)

Instead, make it Spine-Covered plates on the body. Make it look realistic.
