What is Hybrid Theory? Hybrid Theory is a total conversion modification for the 1998 first-person shooter, Half-Life. The term 'total conversion modification' refers to a user-made game, based around the original title's source and using the game's editing software, that bears no relation to the mother game. Hybrid Theory has a completely original story, new enemies, NPCs, textures, weapons and environments, and an all-new cast of voice actors. Feature List - Hours of tense, haunting, atmospheric adventure. - Numerous environmental settings, from the mansion, to the laboratories below. - Slower-paced gameplay. - Refined aesthetic quality. High quality textures and larger polygon counts contribute towards a stylish, impressive look. - Original soundtrack - Full, high-quality, well-scripted, professionally-acted voiceovers. - A collection of brand new models and textures. Release Date TBA 2004

I noticed something today: it's three bucketloads of time since anyone on the Hybrid Team dealt with public relations.

There's a reason for this. Over the last couple of months, Zerodev has been hard at work on the technical aspect of the mod: modelling, skinning, coding, voice acting, music composition, script writing and so on. The mod is progressing at an alarming rate but, unfortunately, there's very little to show at this stage.

The plan is this:

The script will be finished shortly, at which stage the final voice recording can begin. When this is done - or at least well underway - mapping will resume. All the time, Scot's working on maps, but he's currently in Germany (lucky thing) and, as such, is stripped of his mapping abilities.

In our absence, we've managed to create a couple of introductory cutscenes, complete with music and voice acting. They're great, wethinks.

Talk soon.
