"In The Grim Darkness Of The Far Future There Is Only War" Warhammer 40k is set in a Universe where no one is safe from the horrors of space. The Imperium of man struggles to hold its borders or protect its citizens from the the alien, the mutant and the heretic. The human race is no longer a progressive race, most of the weapons and vehicles they use date back to the "Dark age of Technology" long before the days of the Emperor. Technological advance is at standstill and much has been forgotten, never to be recovered. In this dark millenia danger lurks behind every corner, and it is the holy duty of the Inquisition to guard and purge the threats within and without the Imperium. Take the role of Malachias Kane, Young Inquisitor under the command of Lord Inquisitor Dante, warring agains the notorious Chaos sorcerer Bathomeos. It is your mission to rendevouz with allies, and deliver the final piece to the plan to bring the Chaos scum under the Emperor's hammer.

Is this scaled for humans, such as inquisitors, or Astartes?

Well the bolter is mainly Astartes weapon, so although the player takes the role of an Inquisitor the bolter will be mainly weapon for the Space Marines.

(This does NOT mean that you wouldn't get to shoot with it...) ;D

Inquisitor weaponry usually takes the form of hellguns, then progresses to more exotic weaponry from there. Of course, it also depends on if said Inquisitor is a psyker.

Inquisitor Eisenhorn used a Bolt Pistol, and said it was heavy and unwieldy, though immensely powerful. I'm sure I have heard of normal humans using bolters, but modified for use by a physically weaker human than an Astartes.

Bolter will be but one of many weapons you will get to fire in the game. Starting weaponry will be something conventional like power sword & laspistol. Bolter will most likely be acquired later on the game and it will kick like a mule. :D Expect heavy firepower but squeeze out more than 2 bullets and you'll be shooting the roof. :D

More weapon pics to come!

Yep, the old bolts were just a quick test. These are little smaller and better made.

Bolters appear to come in a variety of calibers. From the largest, which are the mega-bolters carried on titans, large caliber heavy-bolter rounds, the fairly large caliber chambered by astartes bolters, to smaller versions which are tolerable for use by unmodified people (I.e. Guard officers, Commissars, etc.).

yea but the standard known caliber since 3rd edition rule book has been .75 cal. normal humans can fire bolters with .75 but they have to be rather well built like catchen jungle fighter for example to withstand the recoil. Some regular humans from forge worlds also equip their guard units with a special powered armored suit (they look like mini marines xD) that also helps them fire the bolter that is occasionally issued to them.

1.0 cal is also the bigger standard round for heavy bolters FYI.

That said the caliber of the bolters usually varies from world to world & user to user.
