This is a tiny aesthetic mod for NW, I made it for myself but have decided to share.
Its really immersion breaking to see topless pirates running around (especially female ones!) so I made this mod to change the appearance of the ship crew of the British & French factions.
In a nutshell:
- Men (of both factions) now actually look like sailors, with appropriate attire.
- French female shipcrew now look like Cantinieres (no napoleonic army is complete without one!)
- British female shipcrew now look like camp followers.
- I also replaced the awful female hair, no more silly hairstyles!
- Replaced some of the ugly female face textures with prettier ones.
There are no bugs/issues and it works perfectly on all NW multiplayer servers (like minisiege, TP, bot battle, etc...)
Aswell as people who play as a female and those wanting to see historically accurate women and sailors in battle, I think this mod would be good for regiments and roleplay servers who want an extra level of realism.
Enjoy! - Nicole x
ANNOUNCEMENT: If you are wanting some help creating historically accurate clothing (especially women's clothing) for your mod, send me a message and if Im interested I'll make you some :)
Im wanting to start a historical reenactment group for people interested in portraying an authentic battalion (complete with camp followers & cantinieres!). It would be really fun to have battles and sieges using authentic formations and stuff, and RP'ing as a 19th century soldier or civilian!
If it works out and alot of people are interested i'll probably look at getting a server.
If your interested in helping me start one then send me a message :D

So, this just improves the sailor class and adds female outfits, but doesn't change anything gameplay-wise, right?
yup just changes the outfits of the french (female) sailors to cantinieres, and the british women to camp followers. The male sailors (british & french) now look like actual sailors not pirates anymore.
Cool! Too bad I couldn't find servers to work with it :(
it should work on most servers including miniseige... its client side only (literally just changed the clothing) so should work?
unless there has been lots of updates since i made it? (iv not played in a while so...)
i think the source code is in the mod so if you wanted you could update it yourself?
Thanks for the reply, I'll try launching a server with the mod and see if it works.
As to updating it myself, I've not played NW much, so I don't know its file system or whatever very well.
Edit: Alright, so I launched it, and when I tried entering a server (minisiege), it told me that the server's using a different module than the one I'm using, and asked me if I wanted to switch to it. Clicking 'no' does nothing. Clicking 'yes' launches the server. I chose Britain. The British specialists roster featured 'ship crew' which has Marine, Ship Crew, Naval Artillery, and the officer. The Marine wears a red-jacket uniform and black brimmed hat, the Ship Crew and Naval Arti wear striped trousers, a hat, a neckerchief, but no shirt or shoes. Either there's a version inconsistency, or something doesn't work.
do you have any other client side mods too?
I think that error message about running a different module is because maybe youv put it in the wrong place? Im not sure as i never ran into that problem.
Im not sure about that issue when i used to play NW i always used this mod and nad no issues. I literally just changed the clothing models of the sailor crew troops i didnt change any others so not sure why it was doing that.
It shouldnt matter what server you use - its client side so works for all. miniseige was the only really the server i played and it worked for me.
the only thing i can think of is that NW might have had some updates to the game since i made this mod. Iv not played this game in like 6 months... been on bannerlord now mostly. but i cant image that there would have been any update that affected my mod working. It really is just a small client side aesthetic mod nothing crazy - no intense scripting or anything...
Could the fact that I saved it a standalone module folder have anything to do with this? Was I supposed to just replace the vanilla NW folder?
yes just replace your NW folder with this one... i kinda messed up and uploaded all the game instead of just the files used... so just replace the game and it should work :)
