This is a megawad I am making as some kind of a Magnup Opus of my vanilla mapmaking. Some maps are very old creations of mine, retextured, with added details to make them look up to par, and refined gameplay, and some are brand new.

The style is semi-realistic on the base/earth maps, hell maps will be much more abstract. Since hell only comes after map20 some earlier maps contain "bits of hell" to make them more varied (MAP13 was created with this concept alone). Only Doom 1, 2 and some Final Doom textures are used. The difficulty is medium to hard-ish, non-pros can also hit the Ultra-Violence.

The theme is basically a recreation of Doom 2 with the player traveling from earth to hell, taking the path of most resistance :)

Limit removing port is probably necessary for a lot of complex areas. Freelook is also advised, but not necessary.

Note: HBFM29.wad: the full version of MAP29. Load this if you think your port/computer can handle the awesomeness (or laggyness) of it. Barely any gameplay difference, though.

Am currently playing this near the end of 2023. This is a fantastic Megawad, excellent level design, very fun. Great work!

I played it with Brutal Doom,it was fun !

Hellbound is the real Doom II to me,big maps, varied atmosphere maps after maps and good/very good level design,i think some levels went further than what the engine could display.

The Original Doom II is annoying to play most of the time to me,so thanks for Hellbound, excellent work.

One last thing,i couldn't play the last level,it was laggy as hell, even by changing things,it was still laggy and unplayable.

I rate 9/10.

You know if you just read the readme, it says it's the "clusterfked full of enemies" version of Map 29.

probably my favourite wad of all time, big maps are easy to get lost in, but most the puzzles and layouts follow a logic that helps prompt where you are making it only as frustrating as doom already can be

it's great with brutal doom, where it's varied pace of corridor shooting and big set invasion trap bits work really well

some of the levels are far more three dimensional than normal doom levels, giant canyons and multi-level factory type places

i don't get how this was a runner up for he caco-award, because as far as wads i've played, it's unique in it's ambition, and better than many of the winners

I´m having the same problem with default map29 where I have to look away from the tower if I want to have more than 10fps, maybe you could do an even less convoluted version...but right now is barely unplayable....which is terrible since I´m really enjoying the megawad
