In a world where HD and UHD packs for a 1998 game no longer make the cut, sprouts a small seed of hope. Half-Life: R will replace all viewmodels with updated versions, based (conceptually) on the default SD- and HD-content, including sounds and animations on a new arm rig. Because I can. It'll be hella rad.

lookin good, thanks for coming back pa
Hello! :)
Hi! :)
Good to see you back.
Is really good
Are you gonna modify it or let it stay like this ?
Might give the textures another pass, but the model and anims are pretty much done
Mmmmm isn't that something. Sound is dope too. Have you considered giving gun sounds a revised soundscape (to mimic the way it would reverb in some closed spaces)?
I probably could, but then it would sound dumb in wide, open areas. Goldsrc's sound engine isnt't all that great.
Oh, so it can only reverb the same way for different areas. Didn't think they'd mess that one up.
The engine filters and changes the base sound to mimic open or closed spaces, it doesn't use separate clips for different environments. This is why the shooting sounds have to be somewhat generic so they're more adaptable.
Oh. So the engine itself creates the reverb effect - pretty simplistic solution on their part.
