Post news Report RSS Half-Life's 25th Anniversary and Black Lambda's return

So, there we are! Half-Life goes 25, and Valve has quite the cake to come with it! so along that I wanted to talk a little bit about my mods, until...

Half-Life is now celebrating it's 25th Anniversary, and to come with it, Valve released a documentary (that you should really check out) and a Huge update to the game, addding fixes, engines improvements, upgrades and the super-cool game menu, 1998-style!

So, originally, with the arrival of this anniversary, I wanted to announce the return for Black Lambda and my mods, but with the new update, there is more to go into.

A little while ago, I started coding Black Lambda's new code from start, and there is good progress to it, but with the new update, Valve modified the game and the engine, breaking compatibility with (most) mods existing.

So, If I want to make mods for the "definitive" version of Half-Life, I will have to wait the release of the newer SDK (or fixes), and until then, I will be working on the "legacy" version of the game only.

Other than that, I also wanted to point on major updates to come in 2024 for all of my mods: there will be development, precise details, and all the information concerning Black Lambda, Half-Broken 2, Squad Foxtrot and Type X.

So anyway, Enjoy the Anniversary!

Its really only broken mods that have a resources folder, all the user interface changes are not compatible anymore because that original files where changed/modified.

I'm just waiting for valve to release their "new" SDK to see what I will do next, but for now I only work with the legacy version of Half-Life

Oh OK. Just wondering if your mod is working now that the quick fix added on sunday addressed the issue? They are saying that the crash on startup (either right away or after the initial valve logo) should be fixed now on some mods? Its stated here that other mods, Blueshift and Day of Defeat could be working now: Store.steampowered.com

However, I do wonder why doesn’t the game have achievements, improved HD textures and, most importantly, full support for 64-bit and ARM processors (Apple Silicone)... perhaps this will be added in later as a full graphical revamp.

I tried, Black Lambda "sort of" works now with the update, at least it doesn't crash

Also, if I may answer you: Valve's focus for the anniversary update was to fix and improve Half-Life as well as giving it steam deck support, I don't think they have interest in graphical upgrades, extras or any other minor changes
