Half-Life 2: Wars brings the struggle between the human resistance and their Combine overlords to a real-time strategy setting. HLW has been in development since 2007 and last saw a public release (Multiplayer Beta 1.0.4) in March 2011. The Multiplayer Beta, which you can download here on MODDB, requires Half-Life 2: Episode 2 to play and is our very first public multiplayer release! It features 3 game modes: Antlion Skirmish, Antlion Capture the Point, and Overrun, showcasing the Antlion and Combine playable factions. Future releases will include skirmish matches between Resistance and Combine.

ye, striders should be as strong as they are in hl2. Don't like it that they can tear one down by just using guns, explosives of some sort should be the way to do it :/

The strider size must be resize as because of some of the maps can be a big bugged for the strider.

Maybe you should make unit types (no armour, light-armour, heavy-armour) ex. smg1 can damage no armour units, less effective to light-armour units, and no can't damage heavy-armour units.

We have armor types but the values are still a bit conservative.

The strider might feel more strider-ish(?) that way, but it would unbalance the unit. as one strider could just kill 100 rebels if none of them has a rpg.

Agree that SMGs taking down the Strider feels out of place, maybe give rebels special units armed with shotguns(with explosive slug rounds maybe?) and AR2 while upping Strider's resistance to bullets may alleviate it.

Company of Heroes managed to have tanks that couldn't be harmed by infantry (unless they used munitions).

combine doesn't have rpgs

if my opponent couldn't create any rpg rebels or striders - he is pretty much ****** , it his problems

Add smg nade into the mod,it will balance the strider vs rebel forces as any explosives can harm it.smg nade isn't strong but it will take down striders.

Removing the strider seems like a minus for me, perhaps improvising a rebel tank (make a variant of combine tank), but limiting everything to infantry dosen't seem a good idea. And looking excesively for realism, would mean that the Combine, etc. shouldnt be here, at all.

In my opinion, that is.

Instead of a tank, what about that buggy thing, or the car that you had to drive in the main game but with a mounted gun with armour piercing rounds. Or if able, you could have addons to the vehicles like in Dawn of War and one option is a rebel with a rocket launcher or something. Just an idea. That would also open a possibility to order your vehicles to run over the enemy troops or perhaps drive into the Strider's legs. Could offer new tactics.

This might be a good idea. Maybe some kind of rebel shock trooper squad with makeshift armour and one guy armed with a Tau Cannon with the rest have AR2s?

I think if you kill stronger Combine units like Striders you should get more scrap.

On the other hand, Striders definitely need some 'heavy armor' bullet resistance to guns like the SMG's. I noticed just a crapload of Rebels was able to blow through those Striders like nothing.

Maybe make the AR2 a more effective main upgradeable weapon against the Strider? The AR2 could cause more damage to the Strider at the cost of it being a rarer weapon on the field.

Rebels getting guns like the AR2 is seen in HL2 (they had to salvage them practically), so it is entirely possible it will just end up being a rarer but more powerful weapon on the field.

You should make striders about u resistant to bullets and it needs to be a super unit. It took like 7 rockets to bring that ************ down. But again I'm just a random person on the net lol.

Yeah, Like every one else I think the strider looks odd in its stance (its too upright, not enough bend in the legs) and that it take very little to kill. But that's really my only complaint

Now for the complement, the combine buildings look AWESOME, amazing perfect look for this type of game!
