I don't know what to do with shutdowns.
I also have more shutdowns on my desktop PC than on my laptop.

i may have found a solution for the crashing message
go to control panel
System and security/advancedSystem setting
click on Advanced
Visual efforts processor scheduling,memory usage,virtual memory (Settings)
Then Data Execution preventation then click on second opition a windows will pop up select Gta Vice city.exe then hit ok and applay then restart Pc
click on gta vice city.exe properties run this program as windows 98 me click applay then click on run this program as adminstrator.
here is a guide for it. :) game works fine for me after that soultion.

instead of having to do all the steps to add a DEP exception in Windows, you can just add the _nodep.asi mod: Gamemodding.com Place it the game's root, no where else so it loads immediately. It works for all 3 classic GTA titles.

You probably used a save from a different game. Use the save I attached or start a new game.

do you have any tips that can help with crashes, unhandled expections, or that the game completely freezes (I have to sign out of my windows profile then)?... I did that DEP expection thing, tried compatibility with windows 98/ME, launch the exe file as admin. What works best for you?
EDIT: I crashed AGAIN... within 10 minutes. It really ****** me off, because this is just too good looking to be wasted. Really want to play it. Do you think modloader can be a problem? I vehicles there... but that's it

Always worth downloading for fixes and improvements...more than 200 files changed recently.
Okay Im gonna try. But can you also tell me if you had these unhandled exception random crashes? If there is something that worked for you. Because random crashes are the worst in my opinion.

I can't deal with the random crashes. Maybe it's because of streaming or new models.
I know about the crash before the garage doors open..I'm trying to find out what could be causing it... it could be a save error, because with the attached save there is no crash at the garage doors.
so you still have random crashes too? I have San andreas that's similarly modded like this and there I have almost no crashes. About the garage doors yes I found out with the attached savegame it doesnt happen.
San Andreas is not as sensitive to modifications as Vice City. 😀
Today I tested Vice City and there was no crash at the garage doors. I need to test it more thoroughly. Crashes can be prevented by reloading the save after saving.

after a while just roaming it's crashing literally all the time with unhandled exceptions. I guess unfortunately it will never go smoothly like San andreas...
I tested it thoroughly and there is no crash at the garage doors.
It is not compatible with a previous save, you have to start a new game.
So that's the problem... Im gonna try it with that default savegame you put there. You dont have even random crashes?
The problem is that you continued with the wrong save. The game no longer generates faulty saves.
I also have random crashes but not too much...
I tried that savegame with completed game it lasted longer but game stopped responding (not usual unhandled exception crash).
hey man do you know how to limit fps to 40? There is 50 fps limit by default as I can see.
There is a hidden file called easier.txt in the game folder.
If you open it, look for the entry "0x009B48EC 50". The number at the end indicates the FPS.
