Gamma Energy visits the Aperture Science East facility, built after GLaDOS gained sentience. The goal was to create a facility where GLaDOS' research could be examined and tested without harm to employees or other people who actually... mattered, without her knowledge. Pick up a prototype Portal Device and try not to die.

Hello, and welcome to the Aperture Science Computer Aided Enrichment Center East Complex.

This is it. This is the moment we've all been waiting for. You wanted to play it, and I wanted to sit back, relax and finally not have the pressure of dealing with making this anymore. Of course, I can't do that. My mind is still shouting at me to make more and more, and I'll probably come up with a later release with even more chambers if people really want it.

Unsatisfactory The mod is available as a 7-Zip archive here and as a Zip archive here from ModDB, or from gammaenergy.net (type "Download"). The only difference is that the 7-zip archive is about 40mb smaller but requires the free 7-zip to open it, while the Zip version is larger and in a more familiar format to the general public. Windows users can download and extract the gamma_energy folder to the steam\steamapps\sourcemods folder, which is probably in C:\Program Files. I'll post instructions for Mac OSX users after I've been able to do it successfully myself. Looking through, it seems there might be a more elegant way to do it than these instructions for Portal Prelude now, but I'm not entirely sure.

Work Quickly - Advanced This whole mod should take you a few hours to complete. It's roughly the same difficulty as Portal, but at times can be a bit more challenging. It's certainly easier than Portal Prelude. You won't need to crouch-jump (except maybe in the advanced chambers) and techniques not used in Portal are introduced gradually. You probably don't need to run out and beat Portal to brush up on your skills before attempting this. However, I've tried to make the advanced chambers pretty darn advanced. I have not been able to beat Work Quickly - Advanced without using the bullet-time cheat. (host_framerate 200 for those so inclined) My brother has, so therefore it's possible.

I really don't know what else to say at this point. This is the first major project I've ever really done, so I'm honestly somewhat nervous to see what comes of it. Above all though, enjoy yourselves out there while I have a well-needed meal, shower, and rest from this project.

It's a decent effort, however I really dislike the fact that you just ported dialogue form Portal. Anyways, there was a nice learning curve and things flowed quite well. Don't give up making mods man, you have what it takes.

Exellent job. Just managed to make it the whole way through.
Probably one of the best, and longest portal mods out there
The only things I didn't like were the energy ball pipes you had to break and the buildings you see at the end (which look like blocks built on gm_contruct ;) )

If you want to really enhance the mod I suggest you spend some timecreating some custom sounds... oh and maybe explain the ending a little better. I was a little confused what happened at the end :)

Oh and maybe get someone to build some custom vehicles for you... lets face it hl2 vehicles don't really fit :)

Anyway nice job thx for the experience

Congradulations on your mod release.

I would like to feature this on my site as a news item, mod page, and mod spotlight.

Please let me know if you would like to write anything specific for these entries and please feel free to post something about this in my forum.

Additional Portal content is always welcome, though the maps that explore uncharted territories are very few. Let's try this one.

-The intro is a bit slacking, maybe change the timings.
-Lights and hdr are a bit exagerated in the first rooms.
-Kudos for trying to re-teach the basics but this way you end compared to the original, that are much clearer on that regard.
-from the energy ball room things start to shape better.

More thoughts after I finish it ;)

I like the way how you re tought us all the basics and went further then the original game was. though I don't like that some rooms are just too dark which made me turn on my brightness on max because I couldn't see anything and its a bit bad that theres so much metal blocks and so little concrete ones.

Over all this is a very nice mod.. I don't have the non steam Portal that I play through steam and with it I can set up mods.. took me some time to set this one and when I finally I did I was glad I put effort into it. This mod is great. it has plenty of maps which ain't hard even if you use 1/4 of your brain. tomorrow I'm prolly getting new G-Card so you can expect some walkthroughs. ^_^

I'm liking it so far, but there are.... quirks. I'm not liking the turrets that I seem to have to bumrush them to get past them.

That having been said, you've achieved what Valve has in having me look at a scene in a level, scratch my head and say 'So what exactly am I suppose- ** long pause ** You've got to be f***ing kidding me.'

Ok, constructive criticism here. 'You have to break the glass.' Overall, it's not a bad level. The one glaring problem with it is that it seems that the only object I can use to break the glass is the flat light panel on the floor. This floor can ONLY be manipulated through portals. (It can't be picked up and carried, nor can it be shoved around.) This is bad. Very bad. All it takes is for this object to fall funkily once, (an event the player has little or no control over) and you're loading a save game because you can't finish the level. Some kind of box that can be picked up would be much better.

Yeah, in response I'd just like to point out that you can also break the glass with swivel chairs, the Weighted Storage Cube, turrets, security cameras, spheres, water jugs, CRT monitors, PC towers, bullets, and rockets. Most of these are available to you in "You Have to Break the Glass," while any level that requires glass to be broken will have at least one of these.

Ok "You have to break the Glass - Advanced"
2nd room with the tall room and glassed-in weight sensitive button.
I've spent as much time as I wish trying to make a portal vacuum in the office above it using the crt monitor. There's way too much clipping with the small objects in the room and the door at the far side clips the portals on the floor vs the ceiling.
