Age of Empires III: Galactic Conflict is a non-commercial, fan-based Star Wars themed mod under construction for Ensemble’s Studios Age of Empires III, drawing inspiration from several star wars games such as Galactic Battlegrounds, Force Commander and Empire at War, AoE3: GC aims to bring the star wars universe to the great RTS game of Age of Empires III.
Gunships are aerial units trained at the Airbase in Tech Level 4 (or higher). They are usually air/spacecraft packed with heavy weaponry whose prime focus are ground targets.
As such, Gunships will be expansive units only affordable for players with the biggest economies, the population cap of a gunship will also be significantly higher than most units. In return, however, the gunship will provide the player with excellent air-to-ground supremacy, as its weaponry are optimal to deal with both infantry and mechs. Some gunships are even able to fair well in air-combat too.
Some factions with direct access to the Gunship unit type are the Galactic Republic (LAAT/i Gunship - pictured), the Confederacy (Droid Gunship) and Wookiees (Auzituck-class Gunship).
Other factions may also get gunships in a more indirect way (via HC, Specialization or Splinter Factions) such as the Rebel Alliance, the Galactic Empire, Geonosians and at least one of the Underworld factions.
Great! Only one question ( not truly related to gunships but...) how will air forces behave when they stay in one place? I mean, they will just levitate, do circles or land ?
In my mind at rest air force are likely to be just hang in the air like it was in the Star wars Galactic Battlegrounds. (Sorry for my bad english)
I still haven't decided about that yet, quite honestly, but the easiest way is to have them levitate on one spot.
Still, the other option is still on the table...
And what if to make the flying technique sit down on the ground in a state of rest?
Is this possible?
Koool!
