I've just got my hands on the Avenger buggy. It can't drive faster than 50-60kmph while off-road, - was it supposed to be so? I mean, you described it as all-round vehicle, but it's even slower than the first bike for some strange reason.

Yeah it is a tad slow - I'll decrease the ground resistance for off-road - that should make it a bit more effective. I'll fix this in V15.1 - Its supposed to be around 100 KM/H off-road

Please note I've been busy and haven't tried out V15.1 yet because of time constraints. This is coming straight off my memories playing 15.0, so if you already fixed some of these handling issues, please ignore the blabbering man in the corner. ;)

What did you do to my beautiful Firefly? It used to be an offroad beast(going fast enough to have at least yellow flames offroad), but now it practically dies when offroad. I'm pretty sure it didn't do this before. From what I remember, it was balanced in the original game by making it slightly slower overall on straight up road, but it was really good at offroad to encourage shortcuts. But currently it's no longer good at either keeping up with the other racers or going offroad shortcut crazy, making it practically worthless.

Also, the fast road bike with the insane grip from the original game, (I forget what it was called at the moment, it's the fast, sticky one), but it seems to slip off the road a bit more now. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing, I guess it's ok because it seems to be much better at reaching it's top speed sooner, so the slipups arn't as bad as they were before. But it does make getting some of the time trials and road races a bit more tricky. In the vanilla game this bike turned really sharply and stuck to the road like a magnet, so long as you NEVER touched the offroad, which made it really unique to drive but then it accelerated so slowly in 4th gear that the time trials with it were downright unforgivingly hard.(falling into the "scrape one patch of dirt and you might as well hit restart" type of challenge, which wasn't any fun.)

I've got mixed feelings about the changes to this one, on the one hand, the way it has been tweaked makes it feel much more like a bike instead of a sticky piece of tape, but on the other hand some of the challenges the game has us use it on requires that quick ability to make a "hairpin U turn" without losing speed. On the other other hand(I guess I'm Zaphod with 3 arms or something), if the challenges are going to be reworked anyway, that might not be a problem, and it's a lot more fun to drive in a race with something that speeds up fast and might slip off the road then a sticky, speed punishing bike. And yet, I don't know, it seems like it lost some of it's character.

Oh, by the way, I have no idea what you did to them, but for the most part, road bikes are actually now fun to drive with keyboard. So congrats on that! :) I still suck with them though cause the AI seems to be much better then me, but that's just me sucking in general and not your fault. The important thing is that I can stand using other bikes besides the offroad ones, and they are fun to drive. ;)

Is there a way you could move the camera for the Educator and a few other big trucks back a bit? They handle like a dream(well, more like a sliding rock, but that's why that type of car is fun to race), but the default game's zoom/angle is really bad for this class because it makes a blind spot right in front of the car's hood. I can't even count how many times I've hit a small tree because I turned the nose of the car into it while driving the Educator. :p

I had a bit of difficulty with crashing into stuff during the visitor center carrier race. I know that race has issues in the original game as well, but it seemed more buggy then usual with the new ATV handling. This might just be me being unlucky this time around.

In other unrelated news, I've become very busy and haven't had time to properly do any testing for you of the new beta 0.1(or play fuel much, for that matter). Sorry about that. :( I do intend to get back to playing it for you as soon as Real Life gives me the long free hours to play back. Who knows, by then you might already be releasing like, a bazillion new stuff. Keep up the great work, it's really sweet that Fuel is finally getting an upgrade, unoffical or not. :)

I really appreciate the effort of making FUEL a better placegame, but, frankly, I've changed the REFUELED vehicle param file rather quickly back to the vanilla one.

Trying to compete even on bronze level with the vehicles I'm allowed to buy at the start of the game is nigh impossible.
Also, is a rusty old Bonecrusher really supposed to outrun a pack
of Libres, Arthurs and Whatsitsname? In knee-deep sand even?

The AI appears to have its very own share of problems. Like, getting stuck. Oh boy do they get stuck A LOT with the new handling.

As a personal note; I've abandoned the idea of editing vehicle parameters long ago, after realizing how quickly it can turn into a can-of-worms that you'll barely be able to put the lid back on. The driving mechanic in FUEL was never meant to be realistic, it was meant to be fun. Some things are better left untouched.
