I recorded over a dozen hours of gameplay footage from a testing session and decided to put it to good use - by creating a five minute trailer lol . I went with the style of that E3 2009 FUEL Trailer and nabbed the voice-over from the CGI Trailer. |

Pretty awesome I must say. The only thing which isn't perfect is the abruptness of free camera direction change, but since the game doesn't have any kind of camera inertion or path smoothing, there's nothing we can do about it By the way, when I've shown the game intro to my friends for the first time, and said that this insanely huge fly-by part (before the CG with tornados) was recorded on the actual game territory, they were like @#$!WOWOWOOWOMG#@%^*#$!!! O_O , because the size was unbelieveable to be taken ingame. I like how you made the same scene, because the world scale and freedom is the first thing which attracts players yet unfamiliar with FUEL to the game Ah, and also: is there a higher resolution version available? The video deserves 720p or at least 480p with decent compression quality. Edited by: bac9 |

Yeah it was pretty awkward to do the free camera movement, even the slightest tap of the directional movement would make it look bad. I'm using a 360 thumbstick and its pretty jumpy, maybe with some tweaks I can reduce movement so it appears smoother. I might rig my joystick and give that a try lol That fly-by video scene across game territory in that trailer is pretty impressive to be taken in-game, I'd love to recreate that with some full 1080p footage, the web trailers don't do it justice. Would take a long time to record though, I've found when at boosted fly-by speed the terrain doesn't get rendered in time and it glitches. Each clip I did was ~30 seconds speeded up 400%. The world size is really the only reason I've put the effort in to modding the game. The insane 185 km drive possible from south-west (pin wheels) to north-east (white flats) really shows the freedom in the game - there really isn't another driving game like it. Would be interesting to speed that 185 km drive up into a 5 minute clip... I'll be putting a better 720p copy up somewhere eventually - gunna do some minor improvements and such, there are few clips I might swap out I think. |
